Let the healing begin

Hi All,
Sorry haven't posted anything in the last few weeks. Had a really bad bout of diarrhea for 3+ weeks and ended up in the hospital last week for 2 1/2 days. Was dehydrated and potassium depleted. Went back Friday for the last of my first 25 treatments and then was expecting to have 10 more focused ones but the Dr. said I only needed 5 more. So my last treatment was today. Yippee!!!!! Now I just have to concentrate on healing which the Dr. said I should feel better by next weekend and then better yet the weekend after that. So very excited that I am done and the Dr. feels the cancer is gone now. (through the scans and such).
Hugs and prayers
Pattie

    Hi
Sorry about your recent hospital visit, but congrats on finishing up treatment soon! Be patient with the healing process there are sure to be a few ups and downs....mostly ups! Remember to take it easy and let your body rest, some people push themselves a bit more than should. Keep in touch and let us know how all is going. Happy healing!!

    Hi Pattie!
Congratulations on finishing your treatment! I'm sorry you had to take a detour through the hospital, but I hope you are feeling better now and on the road to recovery! Give yourself time to heal and do not rush things. Your body has been through a lot and needs to recover at its own pace. I know that's easier said than done! The rough part is past you now, so just keep moving forward!

    You made it!!
    Pattie,

I remember how it felt to have that last treatment behind me! I am so glad for you!! Now the healing will begin, I hope it goes quickly for you. Now your body really needs that extra protien. The gatorade with protien isnt too bad and will help with your electrolytes and hydration needs. I had alot of burns around my anus so I wore night shirts and hospital gowns and let the air get to it as much as was possible. Silvadene ointment was awesome! On a high note my butt now is truly baby soft again :)

The week after treatment was the roughest for me, in part because I was just tired. But you can and will get through, you're one tough lady! Rest as you need. I will keep you in my prayers.

    May God speed,

    Randy

    week after treatment
    Randy,
You are so right... this week has been trying to say the least. Went to the ER again on Tuesday for dehydration and a UTI. I was so dehydrated my veins would collapse when they tried to draw blood. Finally they gave me a handout on dehydration so I could try and not end up in the ER again. Am feeling much stronger today and even took a shower. Am planning on making a short trip to the grocery store this morning. You are so right about the being tired but it is starting to get better. Will look for the gatorade with protein. Thanks for your kind words Randy.

    Keep hanging in there!
So sorry the dehydration got you again. Its very difficult to get in the fluids and nutrition you need when youve been through so much and add fatigue to it and it's just not a good situation. Remember you dont have to drink glass after glass quickly. I kept fluids near me all day and sipped a bit every 10-15 minutes. Fluids and calories are important. I craved macdonald hamburgers, pancakes and scrambled eggs and tolerated them well. There was always carnation instant breakfast too, extra fluids, and popsicles are just frozen water so another good choice. Stay positive, rest as much as you need to and drink/eat.
I hope that you will turn the corner quickly like I did, it was literally an overnight change, and feel better. THe worst is behind you so be good to you!!!!!!

In my thoughts and prayers, hugs,

    Randy

    On the road to recovery
So glad that you are now on the 'other side' of treatment. I don't know if you are aware of the benefits of coconut water. Super high in potassium. Considered the 'natural' Gatorade without the added sugar and artificial color/flavoring. My GP recommended it.

    Blessings,

    Back to work
Just had my first day of work today...Dang did that feel good. I am so lucky to have employers who let me work from home until I feel strong enough to go into their home office. They just email me the files and then, since I brought my work computer home, I just download them to my computer and work on them. At least I just have to sit at my desk and do some drafting (working on Water Plans for a huge development) ... no delivering plans or running around downtown yet. :-) Am so thankful my bosses held my job for me.
    Hugs and prayers.
