Hopefully Pet Scan is a false positive.

I posted last week about 4 very small spots lighting up on my petscan from two weeks ago. One was near my thyroid, the other 3 in my chest areas. The abdominal area was clean, as was my abdominal/pelvic CT. May 8 CA 125 was 12.6 I see my dr. on the 24th. He may order a chest CT at that time just to be sure, but he isn't convinced that it is related to the cancer. He wants to repeat the pet in two months. I felt better when I received my ca 125. I know it isn't an exact test, but it's important (or so my dr. says).

    Dear Carla
I hope your Pet Scan is a false positive too and I feel that your low CA 125 is a promising sign. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I was wondering whether or not you'd had a recent viral infection. Or perhaps you may have had a latent, smoldering dental infection? Either one would be reason enough to show up as inflammation on your scan.

Do your best to set your mind at ease--worry is a waste of the imagination.

    I haven't had any
I haven't had any infections, but the dr. said it could be several different things. CA-125 on May 24 came back at 12.8. He said he doesn't think it's related to the ovarian cancer. He said several things could cause it to light up.

He is sending me for a needle biopsy on the spot near my thyroid. I go for that on June 15, and see him again on June 21.
