Congrats Mag, this is wonderful news. I do have a question for you though as I'm in Ont. too, but why do the oncs. not scan chest?? Why would you have a x-ray for lungs and a separate scan for liver?? Do x-rays show things better in the chest area over CT??

    great question
here is the reason....cat scans give off a lot of radiation. Since i have survived so long i have had lots and lots of CT scans....so the last visit the onc came up with this plan. She decided to do cea first.....if that were to be wonky she would go back to the ct.....if cea was low she is trying chest xray and ultra sound of the liver.....both techniques emit less radiation than the ct......that is her thinking and I am just following her along.....

    hope this helps

Okay thanks.....I asked the tech. one time about why onc. not scanning chest and his remark was that the oncologist was sparing me the extra radiation to the chest area. So, okay, I thought he was just humoring me to shut me up.....now hearing it from you too it put me more at ease.

Dear Maggie, I am so happy
Dear Maggie, I am so happy to hear this news. I have been stage 4 as of 2009. 2 liver resections (chemo) and so far so good. It has been almost a year since my 2nd one. I am getting a ct on the 16Th & I fully expect a good result. Well pretty much, anyway.
So, the longer we live, the better we make everyone feel. works for me. LOL.
Hugs to you my friend, and your wonderful husband. Mine reads me coupons, ; )

Congrats on your good news - and special congratulations on reaching 8-years....I'm about two months behind you and then I will be at eight-years as well, though still fighting on and off, but still able to reach a plateau such as this.

It's not easy making it to 8-years...I remember your Xmas card about how many we have lost along the way - so many, too many too even count. So, reaching 8-years should be shouted from the highest rooftop...it does mean something...it is significant.

Because, the message is...that we can extend and keep going...depends on a host of factors, but there are a handful of us that will have done it...and keep on doin' it...for as long as possible.

And that's the important message for the group right there...thanks for delivering it:)

    Thank you
I've been lurking here for months but never posted before - I just wanted to say thank you, because I've been revisiting this post a lot the last few days and it's helped calm and soothe me when nothing else has. I'm so pleased your battle has been so successful so far and I hope you remain NED forever. (And now I may just have to go dig out my Anne of Green Gables books and put the DVDs on sometime!)
