Hello everyone..

My brother is Dx with GBM IV on December 2010 and is currently taking temozolomide. He lives in a country where cancer is unavailable so we had sent him to Thailand to get his initial chemo/radiation. He is now back home and responding well to his chemo. However, we have been buying the meds online from canadian/Indian pharmacy for the past year and recently found out the price has doubled. I went through a lot to find a reputable pharmacy that delivered and guaranteed its shipment but now i'm scared to find another pharmacy without knowing how real they are.

Do you guys have any recommendation where to buy temozolomide? My husband and I pay out of pocket for it.

you can email me at [email protected]

Thank you so much

Actually there is a generic of temozolomide, it is temozam ( Fresenius Kabi, reliable onco drug manufacturer based in India) here in the Philippines. It cost around $ 1,500 per cycle, almost $ 1,500 cheaper than the Scherring-Plough drug. I hope this information can help you.

Just like you, I am in pain too. My wife was diagnosed while pregnant. She had surgery and radiation and no chemo yet ( She is to deliver the baby 5 weeks from now). Then we will start her chemo.

    Temodar
My doctor old us a couple ways to save $$ on Temodar:
    1) Contact the Mfg directly. (Phizer I think) They often have programs for the un/under insured.

    2) Contact the American Cancer Society. They have programs to help too.

Lastly, I have heard of a couple of people that asked the community for help. Start with your friends and family to gain credibility. There are a lot of people out there who are sympathetic that will join the bandwagon.

Hi edslas, you are right about manufacturer option. Temador is made by Merck. You can google their ACT program and apply directly to them. Here is link; http://www.merck.com/merckhelps/act-program/home.html I was approved for 1 year of Temodar from Merck directly. They look into your diagnosis, income and if you have prescription insurance coverage. For me it helped that my hospital did all the paperwork with them, makes it easier. I was told by hospital pharmacy that very high percentage of patients that can't afford Temodar get it that way from Merck. I called Costco pharmacy and was quoted $9000.00 for 30 days supply of 140mg pills, so it is great that manufacturer is willing to donate some meds to people in need.

Hi There... I'm sorry about your wife. It's really so sad how this disease changes your whole life. I'll keep you in my prayers especially as you await the arrival of your precious baby.

Thanks for the info on Temozolomide. My brother is in Ethiopia and literally there is no such thing as cancer treatment outside of breast cancer or some Leukemia. Thanks to Thailand he has survived thus far. I used to get the chemo from India for around 1200 dollars per cycle. I will call Fresenius Kabi and see if they offer it for us.

I live in the U.s. and most of the NON-profits that help out with medications only offer it if he were to live in the U.S. only.

thank you so much for your help.

I contacted the American cancer society and they've referred me to the Union for International cancer control. I will call them and see what they offer. But for ACS you have to be a resident here in the U.S. or have a U.s. Physician write a prescription to be considered for help.

I'm also going to call phizer right now. will update you on what they said.

My community was a huge support when he was initially diagnosed 1 1/2 ago and have helped us come up with the cost that covered surgery, radiation, chemo and hospital stay in Thailand.

    thanks again and keep fighting

Hi...Those generics from India are reliable
I am interested purchasing it also from India. Frezenius Kabi ran out of stock here. Php 1,200 dollars is cheap compare to almost 2,400 dollars of Merck-Scherring-Plough drug here in our country.

BTW, is Ethiopia a safe place, my brother will be deployed soon in that country as Engineer.

We got it from India for the past year and they were reliable. It's called "buck a day Pharmacy"...it took around 3 weeks to get the shipment. There was one day it got delayed for almost 7 weeks and i called and complained and they shipped another one out immediately..got it in less than a week free of charge and when the originial one came I payed them for the new one. But they almost doubled their price and i was looking for another pharmacy.

For the most part Ethiopia is a a safe place... Where is he getting deployed? Addis or one of the other cities? The people are very nice and love outsiders so no worries. Let me know if I can help.
