Has anyone had a sore mouth/tongue as a side effect. I feel like I burned the roof of my mouth and tongue. It is sore all of the time, especially when I eat. Salt, viniger, mouthwash are almost unbearable. Your comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Jeff..
    I have been on Vectibix for several months now and have never had anything break out in my mouth. It has been pretty gentle on me all the way around. I am sure Phil will chime in on this as he is the one with all years of Erbitux under his belt. You take care.

    Also my nose is sore and red and I am getting itchy and irritaed around my nose and mouth.

    I had that!
    I am on Erbitux and had sores on my tongue that were so painful. I did a salt water gargle three times a day and it went away in about 3 days. Try salt water and baking soda or just salt water and see if that helps. Mine went away completely.

    Thanks Sara. I will try that. any suggestion on my nose being sore and itchy. I have been using water based moisturizer prescribed by my oncologist but it seems to be getting worse and I have only done one dose of vectibix so far.

    Yep... got those sores
    I've been on Erbitux for 6 weeeks (but only 4 treatments).
    they gave me a break after 2 full weeks as the Erbitux Rash broke out so badly.
    it infected my eyes and now my tougue feels like a pizza burn and I have the metal taste in my mouth all the time.

    I bought a VERY soft tooth brush and use your very basic toothpaste... No teeth whitening or any additional bells and whistles. (as the pharmasist for the softest toothpast possible, and an acohol free mouthwash is very helpful. I feel like i want to brush my teeth more often.

    I love chips... and can't eat them. The hardness, salt... yes, unbearable.

    I am going to try the salt water today. Sounds logical.

    yep, I have the runny nose too.
    I have a humidfier next to my bed to help with the dry nose at night, yet a bloody/running nose by day.

    It's a constant thing. Not sure the runny nose is from erbitux. I think that's from FolFox or 5FU. Are you on one of those too?

    I go through lots of Puffs!

    Miracle Mouthwash
    Check with your oncologist and ask about Miracle Mouthwash. It really made a difference for me.

    mouth rinse
    I got mouth sores and I got a prescription mouth wash that has hycet 7.5/ibuprofen/diphenhis this does help me. I was on etbiyux for awhile buy had to stop because of all the skin side effects. Hope everything works out. Jeff

    If brushing teeth stings, I suggest Biotene. It's much more gentler.

    Thanks for all of your comments. My oncologist has started me on minocyline. Has anyone had any luck with that. My face is still itchy and feels like it is on fire.

    The rash on my face got real bad. My onc decided to skip a treatment.
