Valentines for friends

"The cure for all ills and wrongs, the cares, the sorrows and the crimes of humanity, all lie in the one word 'love.' It is the divine vitality that everywhere produces and restores life." - by Lydia Maria Child

All my friends in this journey
Wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day.
May God give you everything you wish for.

To all of the wonderful, brave and generous women I have met on this board…. May you all have a long and wonderful life full of love. A special hug to too many of you who I have come to know over the years….Ro, Annie, and Mary Ann as you embark on another round of treatment. An extra big hug to dear, sweet Diane and her dear husband!! You all hold a very special place in my heart on this Valentine’s day.

To those of you who have recently joined my fellow sisters, on this journey….I wish you success on this journey. The women here are a wealth of information, so please stay in touch

    I ECHO YOUR SENTIMENTS, SISTERS

Corny as it may sound, love is indeed the answer to most of the world's predicaments. Just think about it:

Instead of incarcerating (i.e. punishing) our nation's addicts, why not find out why millions are so depressed that they NEED a drug to function? Why not analyze how our society fails to nourish so many of its members? Are our streets, architecture, public health policies, popular culture and technological gadgets nourishing--or undermining--to the human spirit? Is our capitalist culture, with its priority on profit,in any position to elect a leader if PACS are allowed to smear other candidates via costly advertisements without even citing who wrote and paid for them? Shouldn't political rhetoric be vested in creative and loving ideas on how to improve life for the majority rather than petty attacks on rivals? Isn't the greatest leader of a nation the one who most loves human beings of every color, class, and religion? How can a society, however "advanced," find a cure for malignant illness if there must be profit in that cure? Wouldn't adequate love for human beings ensure that any possible lead to a cure, even those arising from folk culture, would be researched? What do we human beings need to truly feel fulfilled? And to what extent does our society provide an equal opportunity to ALL to attain these nourishments, including affordable nourishing food, good water, contact with nature even in urban environments, a sense of community despite separate, isolated, nuclear homes, work that is communally valuable, and the opportunity--simply the opportunity--if only through ensurance of manual labor, to have a job if one WANTS one?

And if all these notions sound a bit utopian, shouldn't survivors of a disease best thrive by supporting each other in their every endeavor--as we do here?

Happy Valentine's Day to all, and to all a Good Night!

    Rosey
