I had a DRE today six weeks after treatment ended and the doctor said that everything looks great! He said there is still some scar tissue from the original surgery to remove the hemroid in October but that there is no sign of cancer! He wants me to come back every three months and then eventually move to six months and then a year checkup! Today was a good day! I am going to take most of your advice and not press my doctor about the port. In June it will be six months so I will ask for it to be removed then. I hope you are all doing good and as always, thank you so much for everything! You folks are the best! Hugs!

Hey Chris, this is great news! I'm so very happy for you. Good follow-ups always remind me that what I went through was well-worth it and now I'm sure you feel the same way. I'm happy to hear that you have accepted the fact that the port must stay in for a little while. If that is the biggest annoyance after what you've been through, you can deal with it just fine for a few more months. I welcome you to the ranks of survivors and wish you excellent follow-up results from here on!

Hi Chris, Great news! I know what a relief this is.

As for the port I've had mine since 5-2009, I kept mine due to a couple of polyps while undergoing the initial biopsy and colonoscopy. Only one was pre cancerous. So after I have my 3 year follow up this 5-2012, I will tell the dr to remove it if there are no issues. Don't touch it and leave it alone, your skin will get stronger and you will forget its there. I wish you continued great news.
