More snake oil?

Yesterday I stopped in at my precancer hair salon to buy some lipstick. I took off my wig and showed my precancer stylist of 20+ years why I hadn't been back. She told me about a new Aveda product, Ivanti, and asked if I'd like her to try it out on me for 6 weeks as her guinea pig. She'd take before and after pictures and use them to show other clients. I have become such a pessimist about my hair that I don't have much hope that this will do anything, but it seems harmless and what have I got to lose? Besides, all Aveda products just smell so good. This is the description of the product:

•Contains densiplexTM-an invigorating blend of Ayurvedic herbs, including turmeric and ginseng.
•Helps energize and rehabilitate the scalp around the follicles when massaged in.
•A blend of vitamin E ingredients is proven to help accelerate microcirculation with therapeutic massage.
•Creates the optimum environment for healthy hair.

So, hi ho, hi ho, it's off to her I go next Tuesday for a scalp massage and at home instructions, and I might as well get a pedicure while I'm there.

Stand by for my miraculous transformation!

Suzanne

    Don't sign anything!
Go for it to get massage/pedicures/whatever as long as you don't sign your name to any contract without YOUR attorney looking it over carefully! Yeah I'm a skeptic big time!

Just do one half of your head or no one will know if it is any good. Also some herbs contain natural enzymes and stuff you maybe shouldn't have contact with

    I'm not sure
I'm not sure if I would do this, I'm afraid to even use the straightener on my hair right now. I've only been out of chemo for 10 months & I just don't want to do anything to loose my hair again. However, if you feel comfortable with this hairdresser I say go for it. Let us know if it works.

    I'm not at all concerned
about either the ingredients or the salon or anything legal. I would not sign a contract nor disclaimer should there be one, anyway. Sorry if I implied that I was concerned, probably shouldn't have said "snake oil". I just don't have a lot of faith that it would work nor do I think Nioxin would work, but I was about to try it anyway. I've been told some of my hair stem cells were killed (dead) by chemo. I just want to believe they're wrong.

    I would do it
just for the scalp massage, best part of getting my hair (when I had enough) done was she shampoo and massage. Can't hurt, and if it does work... it's a bonus.

    Enjoy,

I like your hair in your picture. Do you look like that now or was it before chemo? If your hair is looking like that now, I do LIKE it!!!!
