    Cher,
I was so sorry to hear

    Cher,

I was so sorry to hear your news. I know you and Ricki had been dealing with so many setbacks recently, and even the death of his dear father. We walked down many of the same hallways, with the same doctors and nurses and had the same treatment. Ricki and my dad were pioneers and the brave ones willing to experiment with untried treatments in the hope they would have more time with those they loved. My dad got that one extra Christmas with us and I am so happy that Ricki got that Christmas with you, but really I am so happy that he was able to share that with your children. And may you treasure the summer you had at the beach with your loved ones, sitting in the sun at the edge of the water with fishing lines in the water. I loved that picture you had from the summer.

You will have many days ahead that seem so difficult but remember we are all here for you, praying for you and holding out our arms to hold you. All my love and prayers to and your family. One day at a time and hold on to the wonderful life you two built together, that will endure.

Take comfort in your wonderful memories
I'm so sorry to hear of Rickie's passing, Cheryl. Glad you guys were able to have this past Christmas with the family around.

Rickie sure fought hard during his 15 months. As did you - right beside him! 35 years of wonderful loving memories - it's a good "take away".

Please know that you're in our thoughts and prayers.

    Hi Cheryl
I'm so very sorry to learn of Rickie's death. I was curious because you hadn't posted on here or on the new EC Facebook page so I looked at your wall and saw condolences. Even though I suspected the battle was almost over from your most recent posts, it's still hard to accept. I am still new to my new life without Greg (he just passed on Oct 24)so I, like Kim, really do feel your pain. I'm glad you have such wonderful memories of his final earthly Christmas with family. I'm sure you know by now that grief really does come in waves. You'll be feeling like you're doing all right one minute and the next you'll become a heart broken, sobbing wreck. It's okay. Give yourself all the time and shed all the tears you need.
Greg and I were married just short of 42 years (anniversary coming up 1/24)so I have been where you are now and it sucked. There is a group of women called Mourning Dawns who've all lost husbands to EC. They've been very helpful and supportive. Please email me when or if you're interested in learning more.
My heart aches for you Cheryl. May God be with you and may your memories give you some comfort.
    Hugs,
    Rita
