Has anyone heard how Lizzy is doing? I haven't seen any posts from here in awhile and I was wondering how she was doing? I have been worried about her and was hoping she was doing better than she was last time she posted. Anyone hear from her? Please let her know we are thinking about her and praying for her.     Hi!
    Hi and thanks for asking about me, Teri and Kim!

    I went to MUSC in Charleston and got a 2nd Opinion from Dr. Melanie Thomas. She was in agreement with my Onc here except for one Chemo drug. I am tolerating the chemo but it is tuff.

    I am still Stage 4 with Pancreatic Cancer although my tumor marker, CA-19-9 has dropped some. I do not have colorectal cancer anymore. I did beat that one - which is great newsand I hope encouraging to all of you!

    Since my prognosis is 6 mos - 1 yr, I have been actively getting things in order. I am doing a lot of planning which keeps me busy. I am at peace with this and happy for all my blessings including all of my friends here!

    Dear Lizzy
    I know that there have been pro's and con's about Cancer Centers of America, but I recently saw an updated promo for them about "Peggy" the lady who made "no expiration date stamped on the bottom of my foot" a well known phrase.

    It seems Peggy has survived pancriatic cancer for 10 years now with her treatment at CCofA.

    Have you given any thought to just doing an initial look see with that facility?

    You are in our minds and hearts and prayers.

    So good to hear from you! I'm glad that your cea is coming down. That is great news. Try not to think about the time they gave you...I know it is hard..but they don't know....nobody does....you beat one cancer so that means you can beat another one. My doctor once told me that since we know that my body can grow cancer we are always cautious because it can come back but the good news ismthat if treatment works once it can work again! I hope it does for you. That is what I am praying for! By the way when we were in the hospital 3 weeks ago and our nurse who we loved told us that her husband is a 10 year survivor of pancreatic cancer....his doctors gave him 1 year to live...so you really never know....I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family.     Lizzy I too was wonderhow how you've been. I am glad to see you post here. I actually thought perhaps you were posting on the pancreatic cancer board, so I thought I'd jump on there to see if you had posted there....I was completely surprised to find there is no specific board on here for pancreatic patients. But, I did go to the rare and other cancer board...some people have posted there.....there was a post by someone whose husband was going into a clinical trial involving biologics....some shot to greatly increase the immune system, sometimes combined with chemo.....

    I still get CA 19-9 tests done - I have to constantly remind my onc. When I first metastasized, my onc thought it was pancreas...it was sobering to say the least. My readings used to be in the "High 3's".......370 or something like that.

    I just had one done a few weeks ago and it read 133. I compared to previous readings over the last year and during chemo we had it as low as 103....the number has steadily crept up.

    Turned out they did not think it was pancreas, but liver instead 4 years ago. While part of me believes me that if it were pancreatic, I'd certainly be showing some signs by now. So, maybe not....but seeing the rise in numbers head north while watching my good friend go through a new primary......makes me wonder if something like that could happen just as easily to me......no mCRC met, but a possible primary.

    I'll just keep monitoring the numbers and talk to my onc about it. I'm sure we would have seen something on a scan by now.

    I appreciate your story, Lizzy - because you are helping me to remain vigilent and not drop my guard too low, because your story shows that it could happen to any one of us.

    I hurt for you - I think you are handling things beautifully - with grace and dignity, but then I've come to expect those kind of things from you.

    Thank you for the lovely card - and did you know that is the first time that I saw your whole face without the dog obstructing the view? Thank you!

    BTW, I slipped into "our sweat" the other day - I can still wrap it around my fat **** - and it's so warm. Still takes alot of getting used to when I look in the mirror and see CAROLINA sprawled across the front, LOL!

    Thank you for the update. As mentioned before on this board, don't listen to the doctors regarding time as it isn't always correct. Thank you for the Christmas card and that was a wonderful picture of both of you. If you get a chance, please let us know how you are doing. I'm thinking of you always.

    It is so nice to hear from all of you!
    It is so nice to hear from all of you! It gives me the greatest feeling to know you are concerned about me. We really are like family. lol.

    I have still been enjoying each day. It is important for me to take the pain meds. I am driving, cooking, cleaning, shopping, walking my poodle and doing daily activities. The pain meds really keep me going and I am so grateful I have this time to get things in order.
