    My first post, just wanted
My first post, just wanted to say how good it feels to have found this blog. I was diagnosed with AdCC 9/2010. Had removal or resection of the Hard pallet 1/11 and in 3/11 I had a 2nd surgery of removal of positive edges from my septum. Other lumps were found in my neck and on my thyroid, but, they were negative for malignancy. It has been almost five months since the surgeries and I have not recieved any rads. I am on my feet and even though i am being told to have rads. I don/t want to. I would like to hear some of your thoughts on taking this position. I am having a serious problem managing this orator/prostetic hard pallet,

    Hi Dotty, welcome.
You may want to post your story and question as a new thread. You may get more responses that way, instead of it being buried in this thread, which is a different topic.

You also may wish to look at the HNC Superthread. There is a section about whether or not to do radiation.

    Wishing you well.

    ONE YEAR IN OCTOBER
Thanks for keeping this post progressing as this is often the only time I get to see a reply from some folks.

I will be one year post TX on October 20th. Right Tonsil SCC with METS to 23 nodes of which 19 were positive for CA. (Stage 4B)

Feel great, actually my nutrition has greatly improved as a result of this horrible beast.

So nice and encouraging to see longer term survivors here.

    God Bless!!

    thats ok
its always hard to learn how to navigate when you first join these things. lol

i just thought that your post would get way more replies if it stood on it's own. the superthread is sort of a place i put with links to questions we get every week. the most frequently asked questions. it has a lot of info to wade through, but there are a lot of helpful things in there for all stages of a head and neck cancer journey.

    blessings~

    Which episode?
I'm over 13 years post radical neck dissecttin plur radiation for SCC BOT. Had a second primary floor of mouth a year ago treated with radical surgery. Now am back in process for either a third primary or a recurrance in my soft palate. Wouldn't trade anything for the time provided by my first treatment. Gonna whip this one too.

    Feb.5th 2010 I had parotid
Feb.5th 2010 I had parotid gland cancer surgery plus 33 radiation treatments in front of my left ear. Those 33 treatments were a living hell I lost 40 lbs because i could not eat solid food just liquids. but i survived all that then in January 2011 they found that the cancer went into my right shoulder blade so I had 14 radiation treatments to my shoulder plus I started chemo treatments. In August they told me my cancer was in remission I still get a small dose of Chemo once a month and on Dec 27th I will have another PET scan I am still here today because of my faith in God,my Wife and my Doctor and all the prayers that have be sent on my behalf . I have limited use of my right arm but I have a wife that has been with me through it all. I will never give in to cancer

    Andy
Andy has survived for 11 months even with a recurrence. I choose to count since the day of his diagnosis. I choose to count every important moment in our lives...which is every, single day!
