surface papillary primary peritoneal cancer

Ok guys...

I had my results today and was told that I had a good response to carboplatin treatment. I know from what I've read that some centres don't give the treatment to low grade primary peritoneal carcinoma, but I have to be proof that it can work. There was no sign of the ascites I've had and the lymph nodes don't seem enlarged. So, it's been worth it. I thought there wouldn't be any hope as this form of the disease seems to usually be resistent to platinum .. a component of the drug. :)

    Cheryl...
Thanks.. and yes, it is great news. I'm going to try to improve my fitness levels now the chemo has stopped. I've put on a stone since March and I wasn't small in the first place!
I was so hungry. Maybe it was as a result of the disease or because of the treatment. I have no idea why, but there were other women at the centre who have put on weight too so it must b one of the things which happens when we have this. How I'm going to get fit, I have no idea. My abdomen and back get so sore. How are you doing by the way? :)

    Finished 11th Treatment Yesterday
Hi: Yesterday's treatment was a little more difficult but I feel very good today - in fact, even cleaned the bath tub and toilet and swept the leaves off my porch and sidewalks. And am now going to the dog park with Charlotte even though I'm still wearing the 5FU pump. Funny coincidence - I was just so hungry after the last treatment (the 10th) that I just ate anything - pizza, meat loaf, ice cream, hamburgers (in quantities I'm too embarrassed to tell!) - but the dietician at the cancer centre said that is OK, just eat. I didn't gain a pound though.
So, one more tretment, then a scan, then we'll see - stable = chemo break; shrinkage = more chemo if I can afford it (I have to pay for the oxaliplatin here); gain = well, don't want to think about that! We're still talking surgery too.

    i know the feeling
Glad you're feeling a little better and that you got to do some things. I like those days. When do you have the final treatment? I hope there won't be a gain... let's just think about stable or shrinkage... as they're the best outcomes. I've now got a hiatus hernia and thickening of the oesophagus. Once upon a time, that would have been a big deal. Now it's the least of my worries. I have no idea how I got it. Maybe it's to do with how my abdomen is. What do you think? :)
