Another stroke and mets to bones, liver and stomach

For the last couple of days my husband has been very sleepy - almost coma-like. He's been having a hard time getting the right words out and he would fall asleep mid-sentence. I suspected either he'd had another stroke (though not as significant as the first) or else he may have mets to the brain. We were told last week by the doctor that he'd never witnessed anything grow so fast as the lump on his neck. When they biopsied, it was cancer. He had a pet scan last Friday and today we met with the doctor again. Cancer has spread to his bones, his liver and his stomach. We have met with hospice today. I am just so sad. I guess I've half expected to deal with this from the start but I didn't think it would happen this fast. I wish there was something I could do to get ahold of myself.

    Rita,

I am so sorry to hear that the cancer has spread so quickly. This type of cancer seems to move so quickly. I hope your husband has effective palliative care from hospice. I have heard many positive things about them.

Praying for you and so sorry...
    Rita,

I am so sorry to hear that this has spread so dam fast. I wish there were anything we could do to change the progression of this horrible monster. I know it will take me away from Michelle and although we all wish for a gentle passing, we have no control over what happens next or where it decides to spread to. I wish we did.

Please know that we are here with you and for you. If there is anything at all that we can do to help, please ask. We can talk and message and try our best to hold you up, until it is our turn to be held up next. It just seems to be the way things seem to go.

I will be praying for you both and hoping that Hospice is as helpful and relieving as they have been for us. They can offer you relief and respite time as well as excellent pain management and care for your husband.

I have so enjoyed always reading your posts and looking forward to what you two have to share. Please, keep us updated on how things are going and don't hesitate to ask for help.

Sending love, hugs and prayers your way,

    -Eric

It's the nature of the beast!
    Rita,

So hard to hear your news. It is hard to hear how nasty this cancer can be, and how things can change in an instant. Please know we are thinking of you and your husband as well as praying for you both. Damnit! EC SUCKS! Cherish your moments and take care of yourself. Do your best to hold him up and know that Hospice will help. Don't hesitate to ask them for anything, they are wonderful people and all they care about is his quality vs. quantity.

    Hugs, Squeezes and Prayers!
    Love to you both!

    Thank you
Thank you all so much for your support. I will be eternally grateful that I found this site. You are such a wonderful and compassionate group. I just hope the sites for the other types of cancer on here have such loving and caring people to help them too. We are taking one day at a time. Lots of I Love You's and kisses and he seems to be comfortable. He sleeps most of the time except when he has visitors so I guess that's a good thing. At least he's at peace. I've been reading him Lance Armstrong's book and he enjoys it until he nods off again. We're big baseball fans so tonight I'll turn on the television and see if that will hold his interest and attention for awhile.
Again thank you all so much for the love and support.
    Hugs to you all!

Tough news to hear Rita. I am so sorry for you two. This cancer is appropriately named "the beast" and I hate it for how it lives up to its name. I will keep both you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers.
