Cll staging

I was diagnosed with cll several years ago. The diagnosis was quite clear in that i had stage 0. As far as i am concerned the chances of the disease developing are virtually zero and i can live with doing blood tests every three months.

A friend of mine was diagnosed last week with cll and she showed me the results of the tests and what was unclear was the staging. It specifically said 0-11. As 11 does not exist, could this be a typo?

My friend is the pessimistic type and now wants to do a bone marrow test to make sure she is okay. I am not a doctor, but feel that it is a total waste of time.

Anybody help me out on the above will be much appreciated

Thanks

Ronnie

    Cll stage 0-11
Well tbis is a first. My freind called me yesterday. She talked to the head of the department and he told her that there are stages within stages.
That means you can have stage 0 -1-11-111-1V. Note the use of Roman figures.
The bottom line is that in her particular case she is just going to have to watch and wait as basically she still has stage zero. To those of you of the jewish faith, i wish you a happy new yer!

    Hi Ronnie
Saw you on the head and neck board. My husband was diagnosed with CLL in 2000-watch and wait. Diagnosed with throat cancer 2008 and recurrence 2009. Has two year PET on Oct 12 and next blood checkup on Nov 2. Blood counts have been rising since end of second treatment so don't know what is next. He still feels good and works and plays a full schedule. Keep us posted as to your progress on both boards.

    Thanks Myka for your thoughts,
Having biopsy on 3rd november. Been there before but seems a bit frightening as they are doing it under general anethestic and for some reason will be in hospital for five days which i could well do without, but no alternative. Will keep you posted

    Biopsy
Was just reading your comments about having a biospy that will keep you in the hospital five days.

I thought I would comment on my biospy. I have SLL/CLL and have had it for four years now. I am in stage 4 because of my low platelet count (60). I am still on w&w and hope to stay there as long as possible. I went into the hospital for my biospy at 7:30am, was prepted, was put to sleep, and a lymph node was taken from my groan area. I was awake around 11:00am, and left the hospital around 2:00pm. No problems walking, no pain, and healed well.

I let you know this, because I thought it strange that you would be in the hospital for five days.

Please let me know the how you are doing after the biospy.
