Pet Scan - GOOD RESULTS :) !

I go to get a pet scan today.

My question is what do you feed a "Scan" and are they
"house broken";)?

I can't wait to eat something with carbs afterwards!

Wish me luck - probably won't get the results until
Wednesday when I see my oncologist and go in for
cycle 5 of R EPOCH.

Response from a friend (on what a Scan eats):

Lots of money. That's what the hospitals charge. :)

I am thinking of you and hope you enjoy your big carb meal after! I always end up taking a nap in the machine and sooo hope I wasn't drooling or snoring! Love the money response haha! It looks like they eat humans if you were stand and watch. There goes another body through the ring of fire! At least we don't have to clean up after it yuk. Wish you the best with your results Jim!

    Hi Jim,
I've never had a Pet scan yet...only CT scans. I hope everything goes well and I'll be thinking good positive thoughts for you. Best wishes...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

Thanks for all your good wishes - paid off :)
According to my oncologist the pet scan shows
no malignancies now - good news!

I'm now at the hospital doing cycle 5 of 6.
    One more to go!

Prednisone is obviously in full fource - I was
watching an old episode of "Golden Girls" and
had tears rolling down my cheeks during a touching
    scene.

I'm not the toughest guy on the block (afterall,I did select
"Jerry Mouse" as a pic/avatar for me) but I normally wouldn't
be brought to tears like that - LOL. I guess it's better than
    biting someone's head off ;)

Thank you all for your warm wishes - I'm sure it helped.

Didn't see your post earlier that you were heading for another scan so glad to see it all worked out. Up here in Canada they are stingy with their Petscans and only use them to monitor cancer treatments to see if they are working and don't use them for much more yet. I know they are starting to use it for heart issues but again it's guarded and seldom. Stingy. lol. I have a pacemaker and can't get MRIs so I worry that they aren't getting better looks at things but it's a fight getting a petscan here so far. I think I am going to have to have a talk with my GP when I see her next week about fighting for my care a little harder with scans for my situation.

Anywho glad to hear you have had a good report. Keep it up kid.

    Hugs,

Thanks BR. Gosh with the pacemaker and everything else, you're becoming
the "Bionic Woman" or should I say "Bionic Rose" ;).

Been up for awhile - prednisone wakes me up even with ambien but I'll
catnap during the day. Two more nigbhs and one day and I'm done with
cycle 5. Just one more to go. I'm ready for that!

    Thanks again!

    Hi Jim,
So good to hear the positive stories on this site--. I have round 2 chemo; Rituxan/Bendamustine coming up this Wed./Thurs-- PET scan to follow, sometime prior to round 3--for status report!! all of the encouraging improvement stories are such an inspiration; I'ma not quite as anxious for this go round as with the first--since I now know a little of what to expect.
Thank all of you for being around and such great support---Laughter is good medicine!!!

    Yes, laughter is good medicine!
After you have done a couple of the chemo rounds,
it gets to be more routine as you know what to expect.

    I wish you the best.

    LOL, that's funny.

I finally got some sleep today. The prednisone kept me awake most
of the night :). Fortunately the nurses and staff here have been
kind and left me alone when they see me snoozing unless the pump
    is alarming :).

Wish you the best and big hug,

    Jim
