    turp and radiation
After the radiation I was having problems voiding so my my URO recomended turp. Did the turp and I became totally incontinent for about almost 3 yrs. My GP recomended a different URO and his statement was turp for a bracky patient is almost always a big problem and not a good choice. He did some other surgery inserted a stint and an ams 800 and I was able to rejoin the human race. My advice see another unrelated doctor!

    Please define turp
Please pardon my lack of knowledge. What is a turp? I wonder if this is what my uro is recommending to deal with my scar tissue?

    Size Matters
    Hello jwag63:

What size was your prostate when the Brachytherapy was performed? A large prostate requires more seeds, and more seeds often lead to more side effects. Do you know how many seeds were used?

Also, my Oncologist tells me that Palladium-103 has a history of requiring catheterization more than Iodine-125 seeds. Which seed was used?

Sorry for your issues. Hopefully the guys on this site can help you.

    Best wishes,

    AMS 800
That is what I had inserted to control the incontinance. It is an atrificial spincter. The stint was my doctors insurance that the uretha would never close again as you can not be doing catheters with it inserted. I would have sooner done caths forever than spend the 3 years I did wearing depends.

    turp
I had two turps after bracky. Big mistake. Went to Univ of Arizona medical center where doctors there told me turps were the worst thing after bracky. They finally operated and closed off urethea and connected bladder to a stoma in my belly and inserted a foley catheter. I now wear a leg bag. Not the greatest thing in the world but no incontinence and no infections from catherizing.
