Not so good news

I haven't been on as much lately. Last night I posted some and then I wrote a new post about what has been happening and my internet connection went out and I lost it all.
So here goes again. I thought things were getting crappy when I found out that my cystoscope in February was a new small cancer recurrence of my bladder cancer. Then I did my next cysto in June and there was another one. So in October when I go again if there is another I will have to consider BCG or BGC, can't remember which. I was fine with this just bummed that after 9 years NED I just thought I was in the clear.
All of that pales in comparison to what happened at 1:50 am Thursday. My darling Den had a stroke and is in the hosptial. I was watching TV and he had gone to bed and he came out and when he tried to talk it was garble and the moment I looked at his face I knew. I had him smile and when the left side didn't work I immediately called 911. They were here literally in minutes because we are around the corner from the station. Even though we got him to emergency they couldn't given him this medicine that breaks up clots because it should be done in a 4 hour window or it can do more harm than good. Because the last time we knew he was okay was 10 pm when he went to bed and it was now just past 2 am they felt it shouldn't be given. They did a CT Scan of his brain and other tests and no clots or brain bleeds were seen so that was good. He was there until 5 am and then transported by ambulance up the street to our care provider. He has had so many tests with no specific cause. So there is nothing to "fix" but they are adding new meds and hopefully he will be home Monday. He will be followed by home health and doing speech and physical therapy. It has affected his left side but mostly speech, swallowing and facial. he can walk but is weak on that side but thank goodness not paralysed.
All in all I am grateful it was not worse and we will get through it. His is alrady making amazing progress and his speech is much better.
Please dear friends, say a little prayer for him. He is the most important thing in my life and I hate, just hate seeing him go through this.

    Aw Stef,
Try not to stress over this. Some things are just out of our control. Thinking of you and hoping things get better for you and Den.

    Prayers for your husband
Prayers for your husband that he gets better soon and hopefully back to himself again. Like someone said Take care of yourself also.

My husband is pushing 70.I don't know if you saw anything with your husband before this happened but things have been going on with my husband. He forgot where he lived. Then he drives and always either almost goes off the road(then said he was looking at a barn). I look at barns for a split second but never venture to the field etc. When I look at him it is as if he is in a daze. The strangest expression on his face.At times we get in a argument. He makes excuses.Just like last night.A car was coming very very fast.I said Don't go.He had stopped just a bit then proceeded.I could have been killed.Probably him hurt seriously.I told him no more driving. It happens alot.He is in a hurry but the last few months it is different.

He told me if I drive he wont go.Well so be it. We just wont do things together. We always do but time to quit with his problem. He never says I almost got hit etc when he came home from work but when the both of us are together it happens more times than it should.I have been so lucky.I'm not saying I can make mistakes but so far don't.I saw that car right at me last night.I am still in shock I am here.

Did you see any signs?? I asked my husband to go to the doctor but he won't.If he was to get alzhemiers or have a stroke my life will be hard.He will not be easy to handle. We've talked about how we would take care of one another but he is very difficult when he has his mind let alone if he becomes dependent. They can be bitter.

Wishing good news for your husband come Monday.Hope there was no damage but if so hope it is minor.

I want to thank all of you
I want to thank all of you for the kind words and prayers. Den continues to make progress and we are hoping he will be able to come home tomorrow. Although I hate that this happened we know it could have been so much worse.

    To Lynn,
We didn't see any signs that said he might have a stroke other than some general risk factors he had. I'm not a doctor of course but it sounds like your husband should go and be seen. Some of what you said almost sounds like early alzheimers. It is better to be safe and have him get a thorough check up.

Again, thank you one and all. Having you hear to vent/rant/complain/share the load means more than you could know.
