Port removal

Awesome news, went for labs yesterday morning, platelets at 50,000 YEAH!!! Came home took Gidget for a long walk, took a nap THEN checked my phone. Nurse coordinator called and left a vm (my phone was on vibrate) and said if I called right away might be able to get my port out today.

So I did get it out. They don't give you anything to calm you down. All they do is lidocaine shots to numb the area for removal. It hurts so bad today, going to be very bruised. I was up and down all night taking pain pills and putting ice pack on it. Had I known that they don't give you anything I would have taken Zanax before I went.

But it's gone, now just the power port.

How is everyone?
Beth

    port out
Hi: I just had my last treatment after RePoch and was wondering about my port. After reading your comments, I am going to make sure I get some pain killers before they take my port out. I know it won't be right away, but it's good to know ahead of time what to expect.

    Port Removal
    Beth,

Glad you got one of your ports out. It did hurt! The part that I disliked the most, was that the interventional radiologist used "skin glue" and did a horrible job of approximating the edges. I never scar, but have a lumpy-uncomfortable area from the glue. If there's ever a time when someone wants to use it in me again, I will know to ask them how long they've been using it for and had SUCCESS!

Bet the puppies are glad to see you!

    Great!
    Hi Beth,
So glad to hear you got the tri-port out. I looked up on the internet what it consisted of when you first had it in. Quite the contraption! I'm sure once the swelling and pain goes away you will be so happy to have it gone. The little power port is tiny in comparison. Hope you have a better night and hopefully by tomorrow you will be feeling much better. Getting ready to go to a BBQ, so I better get off of here and clean up. Love ya...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Wow...like an ancient photo album

As I scrolled through this thread, which is relatively short, I encountered first everyone's hero form that time, Dixiegirl (deceased), Allmost60 (long absent, for reasons unknown, and missed by all) and Cobra666, banned repeatedly, and also widely missed.  I think of Alan Jackson's mega-hit, Remember When .

    Dam

Hey Becky,  I saw a news report a moment ago that the spillway for the dam above your community is now completed.....

You guys above Sacramento can now rest easier when seasonal flooding reoccurs.
