Pet and CT Scan Results

Hi everybody. The oncologist's nurse called me and said nothing surprising on the Pet Scan which I guess is as good a news as it can get since this radiologist doctor says I have an 85% chance of getting better without surgery from the treatments. The nurse said both doctors consulted with each other about the scans and have agreed that the CT scan shows an "inflammation" in one of my lungs they will watch. This inflammation did not show up on the Pet Scan and that sounded important the way she said it. That was enough information for me. I have a history of asthma, chronic bronchitis and various bouts of pneumonias in my medical history so that sounds reasonable. We start radiation treatments on schedule Tuesday at 1:40 and then when that is done I go and get the chemo they give and my pump to carry with me all week. Arrrggghhhh! I am still feeling so much better after my surgery and gyn type scare I have gratitude still going for me. That's liable to all change though once the treatments start and there may be a lot of dashes in my posts for bad words. But today it's beautiful and I'm having lunch with a friend. Enjoying everything as much as possible. And thinking of all of you with gratitude and prayers too.

Good Luck! - hopefully the weeks will pass by quickly and you'll be on to recovery in a flash. Use all the dashes you want....they call it '5FU' for a reason. :)

Hello Sandy, these results sound good to me. As far as the inflammation you are right that your previous lung issues could cause an inflammation to show up and the fact that they will be scanning you for the anal cancer follow up, they would be able to catch anything that was suspicious quickly. great news
Hi, Sandy, Great news about your scans. I had the same things show up, too, and I also, have asthma and have had my share of bronchitis and pneumonia... If I am not mistaken, I think that your lungs are just that -- infected-- and not tumored. and as with me it probably will be clear on your next scan. I will keep you in my prayers when you start on Tuesday. Keep a happy attitude and you will do just fine. Don't worry about all the "bleeps"-- we all know what you are going through. Please lean on us, keep us posted. Try to enjoy this holiday weekend. God bless.
