    Have they staged it yet?
Have they staged it yet? Remember its a curable cancer. I had pain and bleeding for over a year before I was diagnosed. I am a stage 11.

Hi and welcome, sorry you have to be here. I too thought I had piles, and waited about 6 months before going to the gyno, thought I would kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Well, the gyno PA said this is not a hemroid and reffered me to a gastrologist who said this could be a hemroid, who reffered me to a general surgeon, who said I'm 95% sure this is anal cancer. Well after the biopsy it was confirmed.

I had muscle spasms and blood and then pain, and then a sick feeling, all could have been symptoms of hemroids. Anal cancer is rare and I'm fortunate that the PA refered me. Once you find out what stage you are, then you'll get a treatment plan. The 1st thing my general surgeon said was this is a curable cancer. I wish you well, and keep us posted. Lori

    Long term bleeding
I started bleeding from internal hemorrhoids when I was nineteen. After I had my daughter at 20 the hemorrhoids became external. So until I bled big time and passed a clot, there was nothing unusual about my 61 year old body passing blood. My gastrointestinal doctor even said so eight years ago (I was on a ten year call back). But when I passed the black clot and called him and he did the exam, he said it was the first tumor he had ever seen like mine in 30 years of practice. So don't blame yourself. Even my doctor felt bad. The Radiologist said I have the tumor and I have bad hemorrhoids. I haven't had a pet scan yet. I don't know why it has took them so long to order mine since I was diagnosed on May 5th but I guess in New York you have to get used to waiting in lines:-) Mine is Wednesday. Keep us posted. I am T2N1 from the results of the other tests done so far, whatever that means.

good luck sandy its horrible knowing it has been in there for so long before its treated and waiting for the pet results has been hard. ive know idea about t2n1. im in england in cornwall they probably have a different code for it over here. it seems the treatment and meds are the same as the states though. my pet result on tuesday, im dreading it more so sitting my kids down and telling them.

I just started treatment. I ma hiv negative. I didnt even know anything about this type of cancer. All I do know is I was hurting and bleeding. Colonoscopy and flex sig biospies came back fine but the proctoligist said because they dont do them deep enough. Hpv I know know can cause this but I dont think I have ever been tested for that.

you would think it would be comonly tested now that i am reading about it it seems that the docs attitude of it being mostly related to gay men is a bit of an urban myth. many many women are at risk from it as it is as likely to turn up in the cervix. and it has nothing to do with promiscuity just bad luck as most cariers dont know they have it. question is can you pass it to your kids when you give birth. i have had the same partner for 21 years. so many questions i need to be answered. im hoping its not going to put my kids at risk in the future. i had cancer of the cervix ten years ago and was lucky that they just cut off an area of bad cells. i dont even know if it was the same thing. do you have children?

    hi
no i finished tx in july 2009. i still bleed and i still hurt on left anal side with every movement. everyone is different. they ck it out and say it is ok. nothing needed to be biopsied at this time. scar tissue inside where large biopsy was taken and stitiched up. scar tissue inside due to radiaiton but they ck it out every 3-6months. and cat scan one time per year. sephie

    stages
surely after all the publicity of farrah fawcett, things will get more universal. t2 means stage 2, then they see if it has gone anywhere else in the body and then they see the # of lymph nodes that it has attacked. good luck to you. sephie
