    signet cell of the appendix
A family member of mine has this as well as cancer of the small intestine. He is very sick and can't eat because of blockages. We live in a very small center and would like to receive feedback from anyone who has experienced this type of cancer. He has lost a great deal of weight and we don't know if he will continue chemo treatment. He is mid-40's.

My brother also has signet cell...
but we do not know where the primary tumor was (they said possibly the appendix or just a duct in his upper GI). My brother (Michael) has also lost 67 lbs because of blockages in large intestine due to the cancer spreading and putting pressure on it, making him feel full all the time. He had a colostomy bag installed which has relieved alot of the pressure, and despite being able to eat now he is still losing weight. He is 30 years old. He just finished his first 46 hour FOLFOX chemo infusion, minimal side effects, and came home yesterday. He has had an appetite which is good and a good energy level. Have your family member talk to the doctor and see if this is a side effect of the chemo or if the cancer could be pressing on something causing him to eat less. In either case, they should be able to alleviate some of the symptoms.

    Best wishes to you,

    Maria
