Too young and pregnant

in Bladder Cancer #1
I am 30 and just got diagnosed with bladder cancer. The dr beleive it will be a low grade TCC. I have a TURBT scheduled for next week. A few days after I found out I had this and had a CT done, I found out I was pregnant. I am bout 6 weeks. After a lot of thought we have decided to terminate the pregnancy.

I cannot find much information for someone my age. I am a female, 30, non smoker. What have anyone's similar expereinces been? Has the recurrence been high? I would rather know now if I have to live my life 3 months at a time!!

Any thoughts and words of encouragement will help in this tough time.

    And you're right,....30 is way too young, but your age just may work out to your advantage when you're dealing with cancer. Although I am a male, as a bladder cancer survivor, I can identify with certain things you are going through.

    I had my TURBT on April 20, 2010 and this was followed by bladder removal surgery on June 30, 2010. This was the best thing for me, as my cancer was staged at 3a with a very aggressive tumor. However a friend of mine had a diagnosis a lot like yours, and has been having treatments every three months for the last year and a half and is doing very well. I'm 66 and he's about the same and from what I understand, most normally younger people respond to treatments better than some of us older people do.

    I think the main thing is having the right doctor to handle your case. It makes everything a lot easier when you have a doctor you trust and have confidence in. I personally went through 3 urologists before I found the one for me. Also during my process I found that urologists at larger teaching universities usually have more experience with bladder cancer. I personally was treated at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA. and ultimately at the Hillman Cancer Center also in Pittsburgh.
