My post is for women only LOL LOL

Dear Ladies Only,

I am trying so very hard to take care of myself. Today, Monday June 6
I have an appointment for my mammography. It is only a routine yearly
screening. I never had a problem before, but things can change???

Tomorrow, Tuesday I have an appointment with the GYN doctor. It is for
the dreaded PAP test. I have been putting this off for years. The last
one I had was in 2005. Not only that, I have always had a woman doctor,
but my woman doctor retired a few years ago. My friends recommended a
male doctor. Both my friend and her daughter have been going to him for
years. I hope everything is OK in that department also. LOL

I was suppose to go for my colonscopy this month, June. But, that test
I am putting off to the end of the summer, Sept. I have to check the new
procedure, where you only take a pill to clean yourself out. Has anyone
heard of this???????

Please say a prayer for me, and wish the outcome is good. I was never
scared before. Since being DX with NHL I am not the same.

Love Maggie

    Put a sock in it
Put a sock in it John..hahaha! I'm sure Maggie would gladly let you get the mammo and pap smear for her...that would be worth flying out to North Carolina just to watch...I'd even spring for the airfare for all of the ladies to go along...hahaha! Don't you have some peppers or tomatoe plants to water?..ha!(you know I'm messin with you...right?)...
    Now back to Maggie..
    Hi Maggie,
I've also been dragging my feet on getting my mammo and this years physical. I've cancelled both appointments twice now. I understand 100% where your thinking is at. With me, it's the fear of hearing that something could be wrong and I'm just not up to dealing with any new problems. I plan to re-schedule both appointments this month...better to be safe than sorry. Good luck, and I'll be keeping good positive thoughts that all will go good and the results will be just fine. I don't know about the pill for the colonoscopy...sure would beat having to drink all of that yucky junk. Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Miralax
    Hi Maggie,

I should have had my first colonoscopy last year but....oh, lymphoma got in the way! My family practice doc says that the person that she refers to uses miralax only. I've used it for constipation before and it didn't cause cramping or nausea. Long ago, before a belly surgery, I had to empty out and it was awful. I thought that the prep was going to kill me. Cramping, sweating and horrible nausea. The surgery was a breeze in comparison. By father is a 4 year stage IV colon CA survivor. I know I should have it done but I do dread the prep.

We have all had a rough time with lymphoma. Who wants to open the door to any other diseases?

    I am SO with you
I am overdue for both mammography and pap. To top it all off a spot showed on my cat scan last month in my left breast.

I have NEVER been late with either test and I am paralyzed at this point thinking the worst of course.

Thanks for bringing this up - I've been so busy with gastro docs I really didn't feel I could handle more. But I'm going to make the appts.

Thank you all for reassuring me that my strong reaction to this is something that others can relate to. I've been feeling like I'm losing it... :) I'm so scared lately and within the last two weeks I have several new nodes that are swollen in my neck. Going to a new gastro doc Wednesday to see what he thinks nexts steps are with my symptoms...then I go back to my onc.

Love and the best to all.

Maggie, the best to you with test results.

    Just wondering..
When I had my CT scan it showed no abnormalities in the breast, so I was kind of thinking...is a mammo really necessary? Also...my CT covered my groin, stomach and neck, so if anything was wrong, like in my pelvic area,(pap smear) wouldn't it have shown up? I just feel like another round of getting checked out..mammo...pap...physical, etc, is a waste of time and money. At this point I feel like every inch of me has been scrutinized more than once this year...so...is my thinking off? Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)

    Dear Sweetie,

What a good question. It's just what I thought. Ct Scans, and Pet Scans should
show any activity for cancer. I just saw my oncologist May 9 and asked her
the very same question. Her reply to me: A CT, and Pet Scan would only show if
the mass is large enough. A Pap test, would definitely pick up the smallest amount
of growth, where a CT and Pet Scan would not. She informed me, it is better to get
any cancer growth in it's infancy. Not sure about the mammo, but I figured what the hell.
It's the pap test I am more concerned about. My mammo was negative last year.

PS: I had to cancel my GYN appointment for today, tuesday. I had a terrible night, with not one wink
of sleep. I had such pains in my knee and hip. I will re-schedule. I am so stressed with so
much to do. My bathroom ceiling was just plastered and bathroom painted. Now my bathroom sink
is clogged. Along with that, too many doctor appointments. But, I have to take care of myself.

Thank you all for your postive thoughts and prayers. Yes, yes, all of you, get your mammo, pap smear and colonscopies. Like my doctor said, better to get the cancer in it's infancy.

    Love you all. Love maggie

    Sweet John
    Dear John,

Yes, you did bring a smile to my face. You guessed it, I was totally embarrassed,
    especially about the Pap Test.

You are so sweet. I love your sense of humor. I will forgive you for reading my post.
At least I received postive thoughts from you. John, I hope you're not crying, with me
leaving you out and all the men on this site. Forgive me please,

How are you doing John? Love Maggie

    Knees and hips
    Hi Maggie,
You know what...my knees and hips hurt also. My knees feel like they are locked up..(stiff and creaky sounding) and my hips ache after sitting for any length of time. This may sound silly, but my bottom also aches...(bones on each side of my butt cheeks). Sometimes I just have to walk around the house and not sit down until the acheyness goes away. I plan to talk to my doctor on the 20th and ask him what he thinks. It can be quite bothersome....more towards evening than daytime. I'm sorry about your household repairs..it has to be hard when you are by yourself. Take care sweet Maggie..

    aches and pains
Oh man I could of had a field day with this, but I will just say I know what you mean about the achy hips and your bottom hurting. It was the same here and all of a sudden it just went away. I don't care what they say. It has something to do with the chemo or the R. Don't know which. I even started feeling like I had arthritis in my thumbs.I never had any problem like that before I started chemo. I have heard the same complaints from so many different people. Its not always in the exact same areas but it is a general complaint. It is kind of scary because it actually feels like it is in the bone. My energy level was low for the longest time, but has now got back up to 95%. Getting there.:) John

    Knee and Hip Pain
    Dear Sue, John, and all,

You are so right John. Everything changed when we started having all
those tests and treatment. I am sure my hip pain started when I had the
BMB. The only treatment I had was Rituxan, once weekly for 4 weeks.

The other night when I had such difficulty with the pain in my right hip
and right knee. I got up and placed a heating pad over my knee and hip.
It didn't work. There is such confusion for me, use a heating pad or ice?

In the morning I was exhausted, but the pain disappeared. Later on in the
day, the pain returned in my knee. This time I used ice in a plstic bag.
The pain left immediately. A new strategy was developed for me to try.
FROM NOW ON IF I GET ANY PAIN IN MY HIP OR KNEE, I WILL USE ICE ON BOTH.
I will let you know how my new strategy goes.

Sue, sorry to hear you have one additional bothersome ache on your bottom.
So glad you are seeing your doctor on the 20th. I am sure you will post the
    doctor's comments.

Yes Sue, love ya too. John I'm not leaving you out, luv ya also. Keep up with
    your funny comments. Love Maggie
