I just closed a condominium for my daughter yesterday!!!! We have been looking for 2 years, and this one had a huge price reduce 2 weeks ago. We put in an offer, and I now have the keys!!!!!! LOTS to do, but we have a month before we switch countries, so it should be time enough to get her moved in and settled.

And, my beau's "sharing" my coffee with my laptop (NEVER try this at home...only for trained professionals) resulted in hard work the last few days, getting my software loaded and files restored....*smile* I'm a computer consultant, but the Windows 7 is different...after 20 years, I have a learning curve...

Met with the on-site maintenance guy....REALLY nice! And all of the residents are very friendly! And, there are many members of my daughter's church group around her...some even in the same complex....so instant friends!!! YEA!!! Edison and the painter coming today, Gas Co tomorrow, carpet cleaner waiting in the wings till painter is finished!! YEA!!! We are so blessed....the painter and the carpet cleaner are the ones from the apartment complex. When we gave notice, the manager gave us the names, and told us she would tell them to give us HER prices....($80 for cleaning 2BR/2BTH carpet...) WHAT a grand lady!!!

Hugs, Kathi

    Dear Kathi,

How wonderful that you will be able to get your daughter settled into her new home before you travel again.

I can relate to the 'learning curve' as I myself was a "have laptop will travel" consultant for a number of years. Technology keeps moving forward and it is always a challenge to keep up. Hope all your software works well with the new operating system.

    Thank you, Marie!
Yes, we are shooting for moving her week after next...all painting and cleaning done by then...

As far as the Windows 7....a cool trick....if there is software that is rated for Windows XP, it will run on 7, but the tech suggestion is that instead of letting it autorun, right click on the setup program, and click on 'run as administrator'....worked every time for me...including my pesky Quickbooks Pro that is a few years old...

    Thank you, Gail!
It was truly the last piece of stress for me when traveling...that my daughter was ok...

She is saying "Finally, mom, after 15 years, I'm coming home!" (we rented a condo after leaving the house...and then her apartment).
