stage iv cervical cancer

I am new to this board and was hoping the hear from others with similar experiences (preferably positive outcomes!). I am 36 and was diagnosed last year with stage iib cervical cancer - never had any previous problems and was always checked annually. I have been through external and internal radiation and chemotherapy - had 6 mo of remission only to have the cancer return in January. I was scheduled for a total pelvic exteneration in March. an hour into the surgery they found the cancer in my aortic lymphnodes and abandoned the procedure. Now I have been re-staged as IV and told that without treatment I have less than a year to live - with treatment they have given me 2. We met my fourth new dr in the last year yesterday - starting chemo next week. I have quit my job and am now a stay-at home mom focused only on staying alive and spending quality time with my family. I am not really sure what I am supposed to be doing or feeling - it is hard to feel like fighting when you don't really think you can win - it is also hard to get excitied about a few more months instead of having the rest of your life.

    CYO,
    Keep your chin up and

    CYO,
Keep your chin up and remain as positive as possible at this moment. I have been where you are and it's been 2.5 years since I was declared in remission. If you haven't had excessive radiation to the aortic node area, it would seem it is an option. Wishing you only the best. ((HUGS))

    I was recently diagnosed
I was recently diagnosed with recurrent Stage 4 cervical cancer that is now in my lungs. I am on doctor number two after the first one told me to go home and get my affairs in order. I am also going to be working with a holistic doctor starting Tuesday. She's already told me"dont eat beef" I refuse to die. I have three children and two grandchildren and am 44 years old. I'm overwhelmed also. I started chemo again one day a week. Two days after I had it they gave me a shot to keep my blood count up and I thought I would die .The pain in my bones was horrible....... Pray, have faith

    Your diagnosis
I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. You may find support from the women who post in the Unterine cancer discussion board. Having a plan to fight the cancer helps one focus on the battle.
Remember that we are individuals and not statistically numbers about longevity.
Focus on your immune system and nutritional status. Have you asked about possible clinical trials that you could be considered for?
I have a two year old great niece who is battling brain cancer and is in a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering in NYC. She is a fighter and only two years old. Look at her site..AveryAnneChristiansen@blogspot.com...she is an inspiration to me being one year no evidence of cancer (uterine). Someone once explained to me the importance of staying in the present moment...don't look back and don't look forward just stay and think of the present moment with your beautiful family and friends. (((HUG))))

    I was first diagnosed in
I was first diagnosed in April 2010 and went through treatment from May to July. I had a pet scan in march that showed to spots less than half an inch on my lungs with turned out to be a reoccurance of the cervical cancer. Thank you for the prayers. I am a social worker and see children in facilities than usually have no parents its hard to think that I might not see them. The holistic doctor was a wonderful experience!!!!! Had the deep cleansing massage and steam bath to take out the impurities. She says I'll live to be 80 I just have to heal my soul.
