Second bellybutton club

Glenn joined the second bellybutton club today.

He had a lady nurse practitioner yank his PEG tube out this afternoon.

He said he was shocked when a lot of air came out with it. I asked him if he felt like he might fly around the room like a popped balloon.

Scope last week, everything still looking good. PET in July at the 1yr. mark.

He's had his dentures for about 2 months now and about 15 days ago, he just started eating everything in sight. I guess the break in period for the dentures is just about over. He even tried some steak last night which went down with a little help from some Blueberry juice.

I'm busy buying him new clothes. He had a total 80lb weight loss before he stabalized but his Diabetes has been beaten into submission as well as his Hypertension. Definately the hard way to do it but it's done.

Well that's great to hear. Also the diabetes and hypertension being gone as well. Heck of a way to do it, but at least that is a couple of good side effects. :)

Good to hear that he is eating well. Steak even! I'm a little jealous. :) I did manage a little bit of pork a couple of weeks ago. After two years with out any, it was a pretty glorious, if short lived moment. But I'll take it!

Hope he just keeps getting stronger.

    Funny little club.
You can spot members on the beach. There are not a lot. It is a very special unique club. So happy to hear Glenn has become a member. Lots of progress, direct and indirect. Hope is for smooth sailing from her on out. 1 year in July, WOW!! What a year this has been. On April 13th it will be a year since Mark was diagnosed.
    So happy for every moment.

Great news! I know my PEG saved my life, but it was one the best days when I got it out. I'm not eating much meat these days, by choice, but I am jealous of the steak. Wow, that's cool. Good for Glenn.

    Congratulations
Count me as a relatively new member as well. One of the happiest days of my life when I got that PEG removed. It probably saved my life as well. Still lost 50 lbs. Can't wait to meet ya'll on a beach somewhere...

So happy for the new stage without the PEG. I still have mine but the plan is to take it out next week. I can't wait, but have been slow to change due to minimal saliva. Am eating this week to prove I can do it.
    All the best,

    Slow going
Steve, Glenn went along very slowly as far as returning to eating.

He did start to get some saliva back at just a few weeks ago. It's amazing what a difference that made to how difficult or slow it was to eat.

He's 8 months out of treatment.

I had mine out about two weeks ago, but had to do it the hard way. I developed a bad staph infection at the site and had to be admitted in the hosp. for 2 days to get IV antibiotics. Oh well, the best part is the tube is out.

Congrats and New Joiner Here, too!
Gary joined the club on Wednesday, so we can relate! He is so happy to be free of the tube, and to be fortunate enough to be on his way to recovery! Thanks to all for advice, friendship, support and prayers!
