Do you run fever? Can you still go poop a little? Diarrhea? None? Stomach hurt like stabbing pains? Throw up? Does it come and go.... if you poop a little does it not seem as bad????

    Every time can be different,
Every time can be different, the best way for me to relive the pain is a ton of water and keep walking
Hope this is all it is and you feel better soon

    Mine
Mine was every once in a while little poops, I called the the size of vicodins and felt happy something came out, could take a few days before I'd see one or two of them, then the throwing up came along, pretty soon no eating because what went down came back up. And yes stomach pains.
Hope that isn't what you have. But you better contact your onc girlfriend.

    Phil's right!
Phil's described it perfectly. OUCH!!! When I've had them, I have had such severe pain, it's always involved a hospital stay, or at least the ER. That's so they can give me IV fluids and morphine for the pain. I've been lucky that mine have been able to be resolved without surgery.

I usually have been able to poop a little, but not much. Call your doctor!

    *hugs*

    Obstruction
My tumor got so big, that the doctor said it was a near total obstruction. I never felt any pain, until the tumor caused me to develop divirticuliis (sp). The symptoms were a pain that came and went in my lower left abdomen. I ignored it for awhile, until the pain got so bad that I couldn't walk fully upright. Then I had to get the abscess that developed drained, or I could have died.

Before the abscess developed, I had no pain, and only occasional constipation. I used to only go number 2, two or 3 times a week. Since the tumor was removed, now I go once a day, or every other day.

If you have pains, please go see the doctor, your body is telling you something.

    I still got the bag
only had one obstruction of note.

    hurt like hell.
wakes you up at night, you cannot get back to sleep.
    your bag does not fill.

mine resolved itself as I was driving to ER.

    I hope you are Ok.

One tip is to chew chewing gum and walk.

9 of them, 1 full, 8 partial, in the first year after surgery...
I was in hospital for the full....4 days with an NG tube and nothing by mouth caused me to figure out the 'early warning' signals, and clear the rest of them myself...

All of the things you listed were what I had.

Glad to see you are better!

Keep a close eye on it
With my obstruction, there was a point where out of desperation I tried HEATED prune juice, which DID net some needed results and alleviated much of the pain.. but it was only temporary. A day or so later it was right back to bend over, walk funny painful...

So, please keep an eye on things.

    My two cents
I just got out of the hospital due to an obstruction. My third obstruction.

It feels like a bad stomach flu except that there is a sharp pain when the obstruction has gone on to long and you probably will not have a fever. I could poop a little, but very little. When one starts vomiting the obstruction is now in the dangerous time. The symptoms have came on quick for me. Within 8 hours, and no fever. Although I was perspiring bullets.

The remedy for two of my obstructions was get a serious pain killer (dilaudid) to relax my body and within a couple more hours start pooping again. My first obstruction I got a NG Tube and then had my second cancer surgery.

After an obstruction clears, one wants to be on a low residue diet. Else the diarrhea was a lot to deal with and the acid started o burn my hiney.

    Best Always, mike

    Pain in right side
Hi! I developed a pain a few months back in my right side (the same side as my liver ablation. I went to the ER for them to determine it was skeletor/muscular it did gradually go away. A few days ago I got the same pain so severe that when I took a deep breath it feels like I'm being stabbed. I chalked it up as the same muscular problem and dealt with it. I did go to the bathroom several times and was very gassy. I'm just not sure if it is a weakness from the surgery and I get gas pockets or if it is an actual obstruction. It comes on so fast and lasts for a few days unexpectedly. I usually know when I pull a muscle but this pain just comes upon me without any warning. It hurts. Also I can chew gum and walk at the same time (a little unstable but I stay on my feet - partial blonde lol) and it does help. When I eat salad sometimes it helps to. It is the air from the chewing that causes gas and can be a great relief. Hey any which way it blows the skirt up keeps me happy.
