    Hi Graci,

I have not been continuing the colloidal minerals, for now anyhow. I had heard so many great things about them, but some things did concern me too. I meant to ask my naturopath about them, but forgot- will do that next time I go in & don't want to take them until I get his thoughts on them.

    Thanks for the encouragement Graci-

    Lisa do you like sauteed
Lisa do you like sauteed greens, garlic, onion, northern beans? I have some recipes that I make in bulk then then take them out of the freezer.

Are you taking the Aloe now?

I have to figure out what this one supplement is. It's like C20 aome thing or other. Some one mentioned it here and then yesterday someone mentioned it at a doctor's office, but, forgetful me!

    Raquel
    Hi Raquel,

I'm not a big fan of onions- some can be cooked and hidden away in what I eat, but not too much :) I'm definitely interested in any yummy recipes you may want to pass my way, though!
Yes, I am taking the Aloe- a capful (about a tsp) 3x a day. I'm almost out & need to get some more. The Aloe is supposed to help with sugar cravings and with yeast/candida detox, that's why the ND has me on it. I've read elsewhere, however, that it also helps against the cancer. Who knows- my onc ok'd it too, so I'm going to keep at it.

    Food sensitivities
    Other Lisa,

I think you will like to know that I had all sorts of sensitivities when I first starting detoxing. Beans, black pepper, dairy, lots of stuff I had forgotten about. I just hunkered down and ate what my ND told me to and tried to forget all the things I was missing. After 18 months or so I found myself eating "things" I had gone so long without that I forgot they had bothered me. Surprise, surprise they didn't bother me anymore!

I think our bodies get so stressed and overloaded trying to deal with all the things we are cramming into it that the only thing it can do is reject, reject, reject. Once we stop abusing it and it has time to clean out, calm down, and build back up the sensitivities go away.

Today 5 years later, none of those sensitivities are still there and now the things I don't eat are because I don't want to or I don't trust the quality of the food. Patience grasshopper and keep up the great work!

    Hi Scouty,

Thanks for the encouragement- to know that you actually got over some of the sensitivities is very encouraging to me. Maybe that will happen to me too. Having my CEA go down really is going to boost me onward and forward in this whole cleanse and detox thing! I plan on starting the sauna therapy next week (after my husband's payday) & will hope that metal detoxing can only help me even more.

Yes, patience is something I'm working on and praying for!

    Enjoy your weekend too-

That is great news Lisa! I am also so glad to hear about your efforts with your diet. It really is a life style change and not an easy one especially when you have a family to cook for as well.

Ive been at it for almost 3 1/2 years now......my family now eats many of the things I do. Even in the last year it had become easier to eat gluten free....many restaurants now have gluten free items PF Changs is my favorite. I have tried may products over the years as well and many recipes. If you are interested Id be happy to share some of my favorites.

We have pasta frequently as I am Italian.....I make rice pasta( or corn but I know you are allergic) for myself and regular pasta for the family although my kids will eat my pasta too...just not my hubby yet. Trader Joes makes a good rice pasta and its reasonably priced. Im a cheese addict as well. Have you tried sheep milk feta or other sheep milk cheese? Pecorino Romano is usually made from sheeps milk and I use it any recipes that call for Parmesan. There is goat milk cheese as well but I never could get used to that but like the sheep milk varieties.

Let me know if I can help in anyway.

    Smiles,
    Dawn

I just bought the rice pasta
I just bought the rice pasta from trader joes but haven't tried it yet.

Lisa, It is wonderful your CEA went down. We travel about once a month to trader joes or whole foods to get food for the month. We buy frozen organic veggies in bags, they are good roasted in the oven with herbs. You could also buy organic fruits in bags to make sorbet if you are eating fruits. Ask your naturapath about coconut oil. I drink a couple tablespoons every once in awhile. It is supposed to be a great anti-fungal and it curbs the temptation for sugar. My husband won't drink it, but I do cook with it often. It is one 'healthy oil' that can withstand high heats without becoming rancid.

    Keep up the hard work.

    Hi Erin,

I posted on your other thread how glad I am that your husband's CEA went down! I do now know about the coconut oil & have some, but I actually haven't used it yet. I've used mostly olive oil so far. I didn't know about the anti fungal qualities in coconut oil, though, so I will start using it. My ND has me take a tsp of Aloe 3x a day for the same thing- anti fungal and curbing the sugar temptation.

I will keep it up & reading about you and your husband inspires me to do even more. :)

    Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the support everyone! Lisa/Scouty- yes, it's okay to call me the "Other Lisa" :D I love mushrooms, so that sounds good, but my sensitivity testing revealed that I have a problem with mushrooms, among many things. I've always eaten lots of mushrooms, but guess I should cut them out now. :( Yes, I know about the cleansing veggies- fortunately I love brocolli and cauliflower and have no allergies or sensitivities to them.
I'll have to start doing the lettuce wrap thing- I know it's becoming an option at more restaurants now instead of buns or bread. I do also love tomatos and spaghetti sauce & have no problem w/ them, so I will consume a lot of them. I also love avocados and Fallbrook is considered the "avocado capital" (but we don't get them for a cheap price- what's up with that?!).

Raquel and Dawn- I'd love to see any recipes you want to share- send them to me as a PM, if you don't mind. Thanks- :)

Roger- I'm glad you're sold on the naturopathic path now too :)

Jennie- Well, I commented to you on your other thread, but I'm so thrilled that you're doing the natural stuff too & feeling good from it!

If I missed anyone- well, thanks for the support and encouraging words!!

I actually am suffering from bad indigestion right at the moment- I gave in and went out for pizza tonight for dinner- had a salad and just one piece of pizza, but I think that maybe my body is reacting more than it normally would just because I've been off the stuff lately. I do have some tablets for lactose, which I should have taken right before the pizza (because of the cheese). I took my digestive enzymes, but forgot the lactose pill. Too bad they don't make pizza with goat cheese.

Oh- someone commented on sheep cheese- never heard of that possibility, but will look into trying it soon.

    Cheers everyone,
    Lisa

    Gluten = toxic
    Hi other Lisa,

    :-)

I highly recommend the book DANGEROUS GRAINS by Dr. Braly. I hope after reading it you'll think twice about eating pizza with gluten flour since you've tested positive for a wheat/gluten allergy. It wreaks havoc on your intestines when you're sensitive and can CREATE intestinal cancers. At least you know your body is revolting against that piZza. You can find gluten free pizza crusts (my daughter loves the Glutino ones) and you can top it with your own goat cheese.

I, too, have gluten, wheat and corn issues. I cut out all grains 18 months ago and many other foods due to Mast Cell Activation Disorder, so I completely understand the eating conundrum. Legumes trigger anaphylaxis so I'm really limited. I'm even allergic to Swiss Chard for crying out loud. But scouty's suggestion of using lettuce wraps is a mainstay in my meals. Try it. You'll like it. :-) I use the big green romaine lettuce like tortillas to wrap stuff in and they're sooooo yummy!

I saw a Dr. Oz episode with elizabeth (from the View--her last name escapes me) who has Celiac Sprue and Dr. Oz said that even a tiny amount of gluten can be dangerous for gluten intolerant people.

Just wanting to give you some encouragement. I so understand what you're going through with your diet changes.

    peace, emily

I was just thinking about you, know I already commented. But I'm glad you have a bit less stress on you with the CEA going down. I hadn't realized I guess that it had been rising on you.
What breed is your doggie? Still loving the pic of her. (mine are Lhasa Apso's, Romeo and Julietta with their one puppy we kept Kiwi Chu Chu Chin #2) And how are her puppies doing?

    Hi Marie,

It's nice to know you're thinking about me- thank you :)
Yes, the CEA started steadily going up about the past 4 months- I guess I didn't talk about it much, as I didn't want to dwell on it or alarm anyone. So, it has been sooo nice to now see a downturn in it and feel like I know why!

My dog in the pic is a shih tzu. I like Lhasas too- they're pretty similar looking to shih tzus except they're slightly bigger and have longer snouts. Zelda is actually cuter looking now than in the picture, I think- she had mats in her ears and the fur had to be cut short there. The ears are longer now & she looks more now like the traditional shih tzu pictures (but with the "puppy cut", as they call it- no long hair top knots for us- I think that looks too snooty and fussy, anyhow). The puppies will be 3 wks old on Wed. & are fat and sassy and so cute! One puppy is now up and walking on all fours- the others are still doing the crawl, but will follow suit soon, I'm sure. Then the fun (and more work) begins! I love it, though. :)

    Hugs and you take care-

    Emily,

Thank you for the advice and info (along with so many others)- I will definitely start trying lettuce wraps. Wow- sounds like your diet issues are still ongoing. I will check out the book you mentioned. I am going to google mast cell activation disorder. I know the mast cells have to do with allergies and sensitivites- that's about all I know. Sounds like it's a problem where the mast cells turn the body against itself or many things you eat or are exposed to?

Thanks for chiming in and letting me know how you understand- it does help. Honestly, I used to think of people such as yourself and few other people I know who are "into health" so much as kind of kooky and extreme- my apologies for that- I've been brought to my knees on that front! Hard to believe here I am eating so healthy and being a "health nut"! :)

    Thanks again,
    Lisa

    Excellent news Other Lisa
I do hope it's okay to call you that. There is already a semi-colon baby lisa so that is all I can come up.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOO for you. You certainly deserve it with all the hard work you are putting in.

There are brown rice pastas out there too. I ate lots of ground elk since I had a local farm to get it from. I also have a wicked mushroom ragu recipe that is like spagetti sauce with just mushrooms and onions. You can add meat and you are supposed to put it on egg noodles but I just made it like a stew and ate it by the bowl. Did you know tomato products (like spag sauce) help your immune system? I lived alone when I was going thru my changes and would make a big batch and eat it for several days.

I am currently trying to drop a few pounds while also trying to figure out what my "explosive diarrhea" trigger/triggers are so I just dropped all grain and dairy products for 6 weeks. I've learned a great deal and feel awesome! My running and other workouts are the best ever and it has been really interesting how creative you can be. Lettuce wraps are my new thing. BLTs, burgers, tacos......everying I used to eat in between bread I now put into lettuce leaves!

Also remember the basic "cleansing veggies": steamed broc, cauliflower, and asparagus along with sauteed spinach. Avocados will give you some of the much needed good fats. I've never eaten them that much but now crave them.

Again great news and you just keep on keeping on!

    Lisa P.

    Congrats, and shrooms
    Congratulations, Lisa. Great progress.

We use a PSK clone, the Coriolus mushroom extract developed in Japan, that is mostly polysaccharides and only a small part peptide. The ND might opine about whether polysaccharide extracts, avoiding the bulk mushroom would be satisfactorily hypoallergenic.

My wife has now built her WBC back up (8.1) to pre-operative (8.0) levels now, with progress on platelets and RBC, too. Although I give some credit other things like diet and anti-inflammatory supplements (e.g. fish oil, bosweila, niacinamide, more ginger+turmeric), watching the blood work, I credit PSK most.

We tried to add higher dose PSP, a Chinese Coriolus cousin with higher immunogenic protein content, and WBC went even higher, but the RBC and platelets eroded, so PSK it is for us.

Since we are in the continuous chemo lane, WBC, RBC and platelets, along with ESR, determine chemo dose and duration.

great news, I am hoping for the same
I meet with my "new" oncologist on Wednesday and am hoping that my CEA is down some also.

I have been meeting with a nutricionist and a ND. I am on seceral supplements and a high protein diet. I will be gettin the results of the blood tests the ND did in about 2 weeks...i hope I am not allergic to as many things as you are Lisa!!!

Since I started on the supplements I feel so much better and they also seem to be helping me with some of the side efeects of Xeloda.

    Keep up the good eating!!!!
