Finally starting Rads...

...on Tues the 22nd. I get to go 2 times a day for 22 days, a total of 44 treatments. I'm not looking forward to the back and forth...about 25 miles one way. I have 6 hours between treatments, so 'hanging out' isn't a great option either. But I will figure it out, because I'm doing whatever it takes to win this. And thanks to all of you, I've made it this far, so I know I can do this too.

Hugs,

Linda

    Thats wonderful !!
Starting radiation that is - I'm almost done - i more week 1/2 to go. everyday. I know it can be a pain traveling everyday. I don't have a drive like you nor do I go twice a day - but to me - radiation means almost done and I'm thrilled with that.
Maybe you can do some shopping or lunch or something that you enjoy for you while you wait for your 2nd daily treatment?
Yes, we are fighters and we will do everything we can to fight this. Even driving 50 miles a day :)

Hang in there - almost done.

wow never heard of that...2 x daily
sorry such a long drive ( I only had 10 mins drive from work to mine)

MY husband's favorite saying is "you must do what you must do!!"

2 x daily shortens up over all treatment...hope all works out well for you...!

Too bad no family near by to chill at their house or something!

Do you have to do this while working?

    @Kelly
OF all the dates with my BC the only one I really remember big time is my last day of radiation...JUNE 28,08...

I had mandatory meeting for all staff...I was not allowed to miss it...so I had to get permission from them to leave eary to get to treatment on time..

NOT very employee friendly with sickness..

    I just started this week
so I've done 4 out of 33--29 more to go.
You'll be finished before me because I am only having rads once a day, at 8:15 before work.
I am soooo looking forward to the end of it! Being a triple negative, I will not be receiving any other treatment and I'm hoping that I will be able to get my body and my life back on track.
Good luck and I'll see you at our "graduation"!!!

    Fortunately, I'm not
Fortunately, I'm not working. I took a medical leave after my original dx. Thanks for asking. Yep, 2x a day is rare, but I get it because I'm IBC and triple negative...aggressive cancer gets aggressive treatment. And my rads onc has done 2x/day successfully with other IBC patients.

The finish line is in clear view
You'll get through this just fine--and it won't take as long as it feels like right now. Looking at the whole picture can definitely be overwhelming. But, breaking out into step-by-step, day-by-day will make the whole journey easier.

We're all pulling for you and we'll all be cheering you on. You go girl!

I had my markers done last week and i do what they call a dry run Wednesday and start Thursday for 33 treatments and i was going to have to drive like that but in the middle of doing chemo they build a new radiation place in my town so I'm getting to have treatment 10 minutes away but i was prepared to drive where ever it took and like you do what ever it takes to beat this thing. good luck and keep us posted. hugs MOLLYZ
