    Oh fun!
Oh Ladies! Fun! I love that you are getting together. What a terrific group. Lift a cup for the rest of us.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    We will!
We'll have a toast to you all with our tea cups! A "mini" colonpalooza of sorts, I guess, with just the four of us!

    Ups and Downs
Awwww Lisa... the emotional roller coaster comes with the chemo and constant fight we are on... and then add on top of that a detox, and is it any wonder you are teary and emotional? And just wait to those puppies come... it will be emotions in the other direction! And dealing with a 15 year old female... that is similar to dealing with a 50 year old menopausal woman :D Hormones amuk!!

Good on you to just take it a day at a time.... today's the downside of the roller coaster... wait to the gals get to your house and it will be the upside of the roller coaster :D

Me, I've sort of leveled off and am just holding my breath that this is as bad as it gets for me... which is fighting one day of the queasies and 2 days so far of the headache. Of course, then I go through the ups and downs too... gee, if this is the worst (which is very mild) does that mean the chemo is not working?? If I were to get deathly ill with no quality of life while on the chemo does that mean that's just the price one pays to have the chemo work? So no matter what we are going through, the good and the bad, we are always going to question it and then we are going to think the worst and the best :)

Your detox sound fascinating and is very, very similar to the Atkins diet (low carb high protein) for the first Induction weeks. The whole concept of Induction is for detox, to get rid of the sugars, white carbs, etc. This period can be frought with headaches, and the weepies... but then after a couple of days on it... up to a week, you all of a sudden start feeling better with lots more energy.

I realize your detox is not the same, but it sounds like the same concepts... so I wish you luck! Just keep with it... once you find something that works for you and you are happy with it, ignore the naysayers... and just go with your heart and what feel good to you, and better yet, what works best for you!!

    Hi Cheryl,

I feel much, much better now (it's midnight- what am I doing awake?!)
Anyhow, interesting in some similarities to the Atkins diet. I never really knew much about that. I'm no longer foregoing all carbs, since I've been able to add non-gluten grains in today. Definitely nothing wheat, nothing corn, and nothing sweet, though.
Atkins diet is of course heavy on the protein, and I'm getting my protein at this point just through the powder shake. After I'm done with the cleanse, I can add in turkey, chicken, and/or healthy fish only. I still need to avoid most other things until I have my follow up with the ND a week from tomorrow (5 days after I finish the cleanse- that was the first day an appt worked w/ my schedule). That day I'll have the screening for allergies/sensitivites & we should know then what foods are okay for me to add back in & which aren't. Obviously, he's going to tell me to always avoid red meat and sweets.
Interesting on his take on juicing... it's his belief that most juices containg any fruits or also any carrots are too sweet. If I juice, he believes it should only be veggies and not sweet ones. He's not totally anti fruit, but there are better fruits to eat than others. I have a chart that ranks all the fruits and veggies on carb index and sugar and also on whether or not they're a fungus feeder. Potatoes are supposedly really bad fungus feeders into the body.

Well, we'll see how it all turns out!

Best wishes to you with your chemo. I would definitely say Folfiri is easier to handle than the Folfox, but just different- diarrhea was an issue for me, so be prepared for that.

    Take care-

    the better chemo sounds hopeful.
and the visit with the girls sounds awesome.

watchout if you get girlnapped to lasvegas.

    smile and have fun,

ps see my post about my naturopath

    Pete
    Pete,

I will definitely read your post about your naturopath.
Interesting that even in the field of holistic medicine, there are still several different approaches even among naturopaths.

    Hi Sonia,

Have a great day meeting the two Kathys! (one is Kathi and the other Kathy, I believe).
You've got a bit of traveling to do too to meet them-hope it goes well!!

    Hugs to you my friend!
    Lisa

Oh- Zelda (my shih tzu) had her puppies during the night- six of them!
I camped out sleeping next to her and stayed up as she was in hard labor starting about 11:30 p.m. The last I checked the time it was 2:20 a.m. I guess I fell asleep and then was awakened at 3:30 a.m. by a puppy squeal- I looked and there were two puppies, born while I was asleep. Four more came between then and the following 2-1/2 hours. Four girls and two boys- opposite of the litter last spring. All seem to be active and well.
Boy, am I tired! Had just one hour of sleep last night! My youngest daughter was up with me, so she's staying home from school today. I want to go to my 10:00 a.m. Bible study, then I'll probably come home and sleep some.

    I've read that potatoes are
I've read that potatoes are really bad for those that have arthritis.

I slept all of yesterday and all night. I dreamt that we were moving and I could see myself taking down each picture at a time off the wall. My husband had packed the truck really lean, and I told him that we were going two hours uphill and he needed to get more in the truck. The driver agreed. 2 hours that could be San Francisco, but most like Shaver lake. Maybe Pismo, going back to sleep, I want to know!!!! Lol

    potatoes and tomatoes
Yes, both potatoes and tomatoes are supposed to interfere with causing inflammation in those who have arthritis. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis and says she's heard this too, but she still has them both.
Raquel, maybe you'll have the same strange dream again and finish it this time! I've had that too- where I've been having a good dream, then was awakened and never found out the ending!

    Take care-

    Good luck
    Lisa,

Sounds like a great plan and I am glad that you are sticking to it. I would imagine that going through withdrawal from certain foods can cause some emotional distress. I am glad that you are feeling better today. Have fun with your get-together on Friday. I am jealous!

Also, a good tip on Girl Scout cookies...I love to buy them to support the girls in scouts but hate to have them in the house. So our local troop has an option to buy the cookies and have them shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan for our troops. So it's a win-win. The Girl Scouts can orders, our troops get some cookies and I keep those calories out of me... :)
