New Diagnosed Stage 4 - 28 yo
Hello everyone, I have just found this amazing community, and wanted to hear some opinions. I was diagnosed as S4 Colon Cancer with mets on my liver, on both side around 23 mm(sorry I'm from Europe). I am waiting for biopsy report to learn which kind of chemo I'll have. I'm 28 yo, and I feel generally healthy except the…

Panitumumab- My Experience
There have been some questions about this so I thought I'd start a post to tell what it's like to be on it. It's an immunotherapy chemo that won't work for everyone, your colon cancer has to be vulnerable to it. I'm on it for the second time now so I thought I'd share what it's been like so far. Both times it took about 8…

CT scan results not favorable
Well, I had to go ahead and read my CT results on the patient portal, and they revealed I have gone from 3 spots on my liver in December to at least 17. They are growing rapidly. I have yet to consult with my Oncologists, but I am fearing the worst. If I wasn't a candidate for surgery with 3....how can they help me now? My…

I made it.
So far my reversal surgery has been without any incident, other than a couple of hours in the recovery room while we regained control of my pain. The surgeon said it all went well. My ostomy was closed up and I did not need a drain nor will I need to pack it with gauze, etc. I am now portless as well. Couldn't ask for…

Gallbadder damage due to Microwave ablation and Y90
I have been suffering from gallbladder problems since August of 2017. The surgeons were unable to remove my gallbladder due to scar tissue that had developed all around my gallbladder. A test in October showed that the cystic duct was blocked. My CT scans showed fluid in my gallbladder and doctors were concerned it could…

Post Microwave ablation
I've been away from the boards awhile, dealing with the after effects of this surgery. I was told at first that I was going to have the Y90 procedure or possibly the TACE which is beads either laced with chemo or radiation inserted in the liver to get rid of liver tumors. I had six tumors. I posted previously that the…

Our appointment went well at Sloan today!
Dr Kingham wanted an mri so we have to do that before his appointment. I am not a huge fan of NYC or getting up early so tomorrow will be great fun lol the nurse said his tumor was in a difficult spot so I don’t know if we will get surgery. i feel no matter what they will want an HAI Pump which is good. If anyone reads…

Worried...
If you’ve been following my case I’ve been NED since 12/5/2014. I recently posted about being ”deported” as I had my port removed since all was going well. Before it was time to remove the bandage from the port removal I had an incident. I experienced irritable bowels shortly after eating a spicy lunch. Had to rush to a…

One year--all clear
Today is the one year anniversary of my surgery (3b) and coincidentally today I got the results of the most recent CT scan saying I am all-clear for now. I've aged a decade in the past year (with chemo and all) but I am looking forward to a four month pause before my next CT scan. For now, I hope to live life to its…

immediate viagra use for colon cancer stage 4
Hi all, you likely have seen the recent news coverage of viagra's affects on reducing colon polyps by 1/2. There is also an NIH study that shows it reduces colon cancer tumor sizes and arrests growth in mice (this study was published in 2015 so the study was likely done in 2013-14). So it appears that this drug might…

In the clear for 6 more months
I'm just back from my lastest scan and MRI at Sloan Kettering. I went back early because I have pain where I know that there is tumor growth, and was afraid that it had grown so much as to cause problems. The tumor has grown, but only minimally, and would not be causing my pain. As my surgeon (Dr. Paty) is convinced it is…

Paranoia and Scar Tissue
Got the phone call from the nurse this morning who shared the path report from my colonoscopy biopsy last week. It seems that it was a little bit of benign, scar tissue and a lot of paranoia. Now I am focusing on my reversal surgery and port removal scheduled for next Monday. Sure hope that my intestines remember what to…

What really does help the immune system?
There's been lots of talk about it and there are plenty of articles on Facebook but I'm wondering if anyone has weeded out what actually works and what doesn't. I'm back on the chemo that I got sepsis while I was on last time. I'm taking antibiotics to prevent that happening again but I'd like to help my immune system as…

Taken off oxiplatin due to allergy, will be switched to irinotecan
Last week, I had a horrible reaction a few minutes into my infusion and ended up in the Emergency Dept for 9 hours. Today was the rescheduled chemo. This time, a person was assigned to just watch me as soon as they started the oxiplatin. I had an allergic reaction. Throat closing, itchy, face flushed, that kind of thing.…

Port Removal
Well, just about 18 months after I finished chemotherapy, I finally had my port removed. I had a few glitches on the way, mostly losing my job and my insurance and having to find a new oncologist so the procedure was pushed up a couple of times. I had it done under local anesthetic and like some others have said, it was…

This was a daily count and most days were 14 but one was only 5 but the total count was 75 in one week. It's nothing anything that I've eaten, nothing I've drank, nothing different. I'm going during…
