Smoothie Recipes.

Here is a good all around smoothie meal.  I did the nutritional analysis for you.  The first number is the amount in the smoothie, the second number, in the parentheses is what you would need for a 1600 calories per day.  I use a HealthMaster.   That or a vitamix is best. 

1 medium apple
1 medium carrot 
1 banana
3 leaves of romaine 
1 tbs almond butter
1 cup milk
1 tbs flax seed oil
1 tbs protein powder

Total Calories (kcals) 597 -  (1658)
Protein (gm) 17 -  (46)
Carbohydrate (gm) 76 - (130)
Total Fiber (gm) 10 - (25)
Total Fat (gm) 29 -  (13.3 - 23.2)
Saturated Fat (gm) 5.4 (< 6.6)

How many of these 30 foods do you have in your diet?

Thought this was a great article. I can eat/swallow 22/30 and they are in my diet every day.

Crab Cakes

Original Recipe Yield 10 crab cakes  
2 tablespoons olive oil
6 green onions, chopped
3/8 cup olive oil
1 (16 ounce) can canned crabmeat, drained
1 egg
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dry mustard
8 saltine crackers with no salt on top
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM ( I omit this in mine. Burns my mouth and tongue)
1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs) or regular dry bread crumbs

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet over high heat. Saute green onions briefly until tender; cool slightly.

Crustless spinach quiche

Crustless Spinach Quiche
Original Recipe Yield 6 servings  
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
5 eggs, beaten
3 cups shredded Muenster cheeses

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch pie pan.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft. Stir in spinach and continue cooking until excess moisture has evaporated.
In a large bowl, combine eggs, cheese, salt and pepper. Add spinach mixture and stir to blend. Scoop into prepared pie pan.

Soft Easier To Swallow Recipes

Green Bean Casserole

Serves 6

1 (10 3/4 oz.) can CAMPBELL'S® Cream of Mushroom Soup
3/4 cup milk
2 cans low sodium green beans  ( OR  -  2 (9 oz. each) pkgs. frozen cut green beans, cooked until very tender)
1 1/3 cups FRENCH'S® Original or Cheddar French Fried Onions

MIX soup, milk and stir in beans and 2/3 cup French Fried Onions.  Pour into greased 1 & 1/2 -qt. baking dish. 

BAKE at 350°F for 30 min. or until hot.

STIR. Top with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake 5 min. until onions are golden.

*also nice with cooked broccoli instead of green beans.

Juicer recipes

Apple Pineapple Ginger Juice Recipe

1 apple, cored and sliced
1 cup fresh pineapple, cubed, skin removed
1/2 inch fresh ginger
Juice the apple and ginger together, then juice the pineapple and serve.

Blueberry Grape Juice Recipe

handful of grapes
1 cup blueberries, fresh or thawed from frozen
Process the fruit in a juicer and serve.
Apple Kiwi Juice Recipe
3 kiwis, peeled
2 apples, cored and sliced
Process the fruit in a juicer and serve.

Pineapple Orange Strawberry Cocktail

1 orange, peeled and sectioned
1 cup fresh pineapple, cubed, skin removed
5 strawberries
Process the fruit in a juicer and serve.

Very moist apple cake.


2 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1  1/2  cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups apples - peeled, cored and diced
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x13 inch cake pan.
In a mixing bowl; beat oil and eggs with an electric mixer until creamy. Add the sugar and vanilla and beat well.
Combine the flour salt, baking soda, and ground cinnamon together in a bowl. Slowly add this mixture to the egg mixture and mix until combined. The batter will be very thick. Fold in the apples by hand using a wooden spoon. Spread batter into the prepared pan.

Coconut Water

Hey guys! I've been trying to stop drinking a lot of milk products. Not cutting them out entirely just reducing. I have always had an everything in moderation approach. One of the ladies at the whole foods store suggested coconut water when we were talking. I have problems with low potassium and this is a good scource. I've been drinking a cup or two a day and I like it. It doesn't hurt or burn my mouth like most everything else does. (only things that don't burn my mouth are milk, mug rootbeer, and my Bolthouse farms protein drinks and now coconut water). It's kinda on the expensive side but I am going to look on line for better prices. This is just copied and pasted from one of the websites I visited reading about it. Check it out and read about it. Tastes way better than sports drinks IMO and is supposed to help with hydration.

Broccoli and Macaroni

Angel Hair with Broccoli Rabe, Garlic and Olive Oil

Serves 4 (or only two if u eat the way I used to eat :) )

8oz package of De Boles organic angel hair pasta, broken in inch pieces**
1/2   cup extra virgin olive oil 
4  cloves minced garlic
2 bunches broccoli rabe (rapini) cleaned and cut into 2" pieces. (I like it with regular broccoli best. Also can use cauliflower or even sauté zucchini and fresh basil) 
1/3  cup grated Parmesan cheese  

Cook the chopped broccoli in a large pot of water until tender. I like mine pretty soft.  Scoop out the cooked broccoli and set aside. Leave all the water in the pot because that is your water to cook the pasta in.  Boil the broken pasta In the broccoli water until cooked.
