Live Strong...I've had the yellow bracelet on since 7/23/2004: The day I was diagnosed with cancer.
I've been in remission and cancer free since April 2006 and now Iam in my own "Journey Back to Life" and so this book is part of my healing process as well. Reading how it is for other survivors makes me realize that being part of the cancer community is a lifelong journey, a gift in many ways and that I am not alone...however I am feeling on any particular day.
And so I must find ways to contine to Live Strong. It's a good read, and it's not about the bike but rather how cancer changes you into being a better person.
We all have to face change in our lives. When the aftermath of cancer treatment, numerous medical problems and life changes began to overwhelm me and I didn't know how to cope I was miraculously given yet another gift in the form of this workbook from my friend, fellow artist and now author Afsaneh Noori.
All I can say is "When the student is ready the teacher will come" I had promised Afsaneh that I'd review her new book for the magazine I write for. Then I put it aside.
I began experience symptoms of post traumatic stress from the medical trauma which had consumed my life for the past 3+ years and I sat contemplating what to do next...then I saw the book in my "to do" pile...and it has helped me begin this next chapter as a SURVIVOR. The exercises have allowed me to ask for the help I need, to look for a Cancer Survivor group or therapy and reflect upon my cancer experience and begin the changes necessary to begin living again.
This is a very user friendly self guided workbook to assist with change. No matter what YOUR change is..cancer, loss, grief, marriage, divorce, relocation...you name it. I think this book can help.

A book not about cancer but abour SURVIVORSHIP and the triumph of the human spirit. This book helped me while i was going through cancer. Aron Ralston is a rock climber...his forte is 14,000 foot mountains. He and I have nothing in common other than a love of nature and willingness to overcome the odds. I am not an athlete, he is. I chose this book because he is a survivor and so am I.
On a solo climb, Aron became stuck literally between a huge 800 lb. bolder and the side Blue John Canyon in Utah...for six days. With no hope of rescue he cut off his own arm to save himself.
I thought if Ralston could do that, I'd survive cancer. And I DID!
a must read for cancer survivors....

This is a wonderful and heartwarming story told by the author and several family members about her father's last year after being diagnosed with cancer and the choices he and his family made. It takes you into the experiences the family and her father had in a way that pulls you in and keeps you reading. Great book telling the story of a man who is an example to us all about how to live and die with dignity and respect for his family, himself, and his beliefs in God and what laid before him upon his departure from this earth.
