Description

A retreat for children challenged with different types of cancers and their families. Patients, siblings and parents are all included in activities, meals and support groups. The organization is non profit, and families are not charged for attending. It is volunteer run and many volunteers have been personally affected by the support present at Camp Sunshine. They have a full private resort, with a swimming pool, lake, playground, mini golf course, game rooms and a cafeteria. The accommodations are equal to a moderate hotel, with two bedrooms, a bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, TV and DVD player.

A non-profit organization whose mission is "To Help women, family members and caregivers battle the personal issues related to cervical cancer and HPV and to advocate for cervical health in all women by promoting prevention through education about early vaccination, Pap testing regularly and HPV testing when recommended."

"Casting for Recovery® (CFR), founded in 1996, is a national non-profit support and educational program for breast cancer survivors. We enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors by offering no-cost retreats tailored to promote and support mental and physical healing through shared experiences and the learning of new skills. At the end of 2008 we have served 3,500 women through the delivery of 269 retreats, helped by over 1,000 volunteers nationwide."

I had an opportunity to attend a Casting for Recovery Retreat. It was everything wonderful and nothing bad and I would encourage any women breast cancer survivors to at least check this organization out.

The Wellness Community/West Los Angeles is an excellent home for HOPE, education and support. Free programs are offered e.g. writing, tai chi, meditation, etc. They have participant groups as well as groups for family & care givers which is equally as important

Patient Advocate Foundation’s Co-Pay Relief Program (CPR) announces the launch of a pain fund to serve patients suffering with chronic pain. Patients and providers can contact the Co-Pay Relief Program toll-free at 1-866-512-3861 to initiate a request for assistance. In addition CPR also offers providers the opportunity to enroll patients into the program through a secure web based application service. Interested patients and providers should visit the program’s website at www.copays.org to register. Patients must financially and medically qualify to access co-payment assistance.
