BASE OF TONGUE CANCER

Hi eeveryone.

My father has base of tongue cancer since mid-end 2015. It was found only october 2016 as a base of tongue cancer or carcinoma. He got succesful surgery january 2017 removing the mass which was huge. after that he got 2 chemos and 35 radiology ending novemebr 2017 which shrank the the tumor andsome in lymph nodes. March 8 2018 he had another surgery removing the cancerous lymphs.NOW what WORRIES me the most and trying to get some answers. Beside that he has lung nodules. He just finished 11 chemos.DOCTOR says the base of tongue tumor compare to March 1st ct scan has doubled but compared to April 9th 2018 pet scn is same. So it helped we could say a little but didnt shrink.CAN CHEMO AFFECT BY SHRINKING LATER? He should start 6 light radiology soon and immunotherapy. After chemo answer i lost my last hope at least keeping the tumor same size to keep him alive hopefully for couple of years. How fast will it grow ? Thank you.

    If i understand your question

If i understand your question, your dad’s medical oncologist would be in a far better position to counsel you and your father regarding prognosis. The answer will be an educated guess, and the oncologist will be more familiar with the current cancer research and with the specifics of your dad’s case. Bill

Bill thank you for your response. I guess I am trying to hear that there is a chance that growth somehow could stop at least for some time. Thank you for taking time to answer me.

    Tigran, the oncologist can

Tigran, the oncologist can give you the best educated guess but, yes, the treatment your father receives certainly has a chance of slowing the cancer for months or years or even result in a cure. Only time will tell so enjoy the time you have now. Your father is blessed to have a child who cares.
