Hello CSN Crew! I call myself BEEpositive and found out I had cancer just a couple months ago! It was like running into a BRICK WALL..on day I going along and then all of a sudden ..life changed!!! it took me a couple of days to myself to wrap my head around it.. i found out Jan 17, 2017 after imaging and a Biopsy that  I requested because of a mass that the mammography did not seem to mention. I have always had dense breast tissue but the one in my left breast seemed different especially since the outside shape of the breast started looking different than the right breast! It was there 6 months ago during my last mamo but doctors say mamo does not pick up everything especially "Invasive Lobular carcinoma  good receptors postive (it appears as a mass and branches out instead of a lump)

so in january my process started completed MRI  Feb completed CT chest scan , pelv scan and bone body scan prior to any surgery. All showed no signs of cancer in those areas ..Thank GOD.

a few weeks ago I had my left breast total mastectomy and started plastic surgery steps at same time Mentor brest tissue Expander. the pathology report showed majority of the lymth nodes had cancer that were removed during surgery.

currently I am seeing plastic surgeon and started brest tissue expander to start eppanding my breast tissue to prepare for the implant later.

working with medical oncology to start best Anti horomone bills

and and have appoint to discuss and schedule radiation treatment.

the doctors are not as positive as i am about everything. to me I feel very blessed to have demanded additional testing and found the cancer in the breast other wise i would have gone another  year without another mamo!

I am still in moderate pain but I am going to go thru this with my head held HIGH and count my blessings!

I am not going to spend my life thinking when..if cancer could come back..thats not living!

I am a very Positive person and have always and will continue to be the one who helps others...thats my motivation and healing!

BEEPositive!!

    Good for you Bee!

You go girl!  We have to be our own best advocates and youe attitude is a huge asset.  One thing that helped me tremendously that I still practice to this day, is meditation.  Exercising the mind gives you more control over how you handle what you're facing.  Scientific studies show physical benefits of people that practice on a regular basis as well.  Every little bit helps.  Best of luck to you.

    Hi Bee!

I'm glad that you insisted that more testing be done when you knew something wasn't right. I'm also glad that you had scans and x-rays before your surgery. That wasn't the case for me. I also have Invasive Lobular BC. No scans were done on me before my lumpectomy. I was put on Arimidex and had 33 radiation treatments. 1  1/2 yrs later the BC was in my bones. So I'm dealing with keeping it there and not have it spread further.

They say that women with ILBC respond very well to anti-hormone pills. I'm on my 4th one. I wish that I could stay on only one forever, but that's not how cancer works.

My wish for you is that all your BC is gone! Just make sure that a good Oncologist follows you carefully and that you have blood tests that monitor your BC and also get periodic scans and tests.

Keep up that wonderful Be Positive outlook!! It really helps! I'm rooting for you!  Kats2

    Anti hormone pills...

    Hi Beepositive,

My guess is that you'll be put on Ibrance with either Faslodex or Letrozole. That seems to be the first-line drug treatment combination used now. This new drug combo hadn't come out in time for me to get it, so I was put on the older drugs, Arimidex, Tamoxifen, then last of all Faslodex. My BC resisted these drugs so I was put on Xeloda, a chemo pill. I've been on Xeloda now for 21 months. I'm starting to resist it a bit so my dosage had been increased. If my tumor markers continue to climb, I'll be put on Affinator with Aromasin. I was told that Ibrance is out for me now as I've already been on 4 other hormone inhibitors. I've heard good things about Ibrance though. I do believe it's for both pre and post menopausal women. There are many anti- hormone choices out there for you.

Good luck Beepositive! By the way, I'm post menopausal and have ILBC with mets to bones only.   Kats2

Hi Here Kats2! Thanks for the info on the Anti Hormone pills! I will discuss these with the med ocon at my appointment early this week . she was only mentioning Tamoxifen if i am found to be menopausal (I have heard so many side effects from people from those(Tamoxifen) but as everything else all bodies and systems are different) i will definitely discuss these other pills(lbrance) you have mentioned and see what she say about them! Looking for a GREAT outcome! And you keep your head up and continue to bEEpositive ..much success to you also!Cool

    Thanks  BEEpositive!

    Letrozole

welcome Beepositive. I hate that you have to be here, but glad to "meet ya". lol I have IDC as of August 9, 2016. This was a recurrence after DCIS in 2008 with bilateral mastectomy and latissimus flap reconstruction. I am on letrozole since late August with some minor SE. Mainly some muscle and joint pain and LOTS of hot flashes. A little trouble sleeping. Stay positive and ask any question you have. There is almost always someone who can identify with almost any situation.

Hello Lisa-Nana to 5!!  Smile Thanks for the info on the Letrozole (anti hormone pills) meet with my Oncologist today and that is what she ordered for me ..blood test did show Im post-memopausal (was not sure since had partial hysterectomy years ago) I got my perscription filled today and will start taking Letrozole (still have to do my radiation starting soon but both oncologist say ok to take Letrozole along with the radiation.  Glad to here and my oncologist also said side effects are normally not too bad with the Letrozole she mentions the ones you said. but i see on the list hair loss also ..have you encountered that with this pill? IM blessed not to have to do chemo also ..so this is a drop in bucket considering others.. we all make our decisions on treatments due to type and nature of cancer and have different bodies and side effects are a little different for each person... I am going to start the pills at night to see how I handle them.  Thanks for your info and  much success to you and your Treatments also!!!   continue to BEEpositive Lisa!
