5 Year Anniversary

Today marked the 5 year anniversary of my husband's surgery to remove his jaw and a partial neck dissection.  I actually got through most of the morning before I realized what day it was.  I found myself periodically reliving what I was doing at that time of day.  In fact, as I type this, he would have still been in surgery (his first surgery of the week was 18 hours, two days later he had a 10 hour surgery, and 5 days after that he had a 14 hour surgery.)  He is thriving and doing great now.  Recovery was long, and there have been a few bumps in the road, but our faith in the healing power of God and prayer, as well as some wonderful physicians have seen us through to the other side.  God Bless, Everyone.

    5 years

    traceyd1,

Congratulations on the 5 years, it is a milestone. Member’s stories still amaze me on how much some members endure; your story is no exception.

    Peace and happiness moving forward.

    Congratulations to you both.

5 years is a milestone and you both have been through so much. It's not easy on the caregiver. While he was in that 18 hour surgery you got to worry the whole time as he slept. I know on mine my wife worried so much as did my Son. I just slept and when I woke up, my voice was gone, and so was my tumor.  Jim knows just how lucky he is and what you have also gone through. You both deserve nothing but sunshine and rainbows from now on.............

    congratulations!

This must have been a very happy day for you. My mom also celebrated her 5th anniversary on 3/2/17.
This was my first thought when I woke up that day!

Embrace it, so happy for you!

Congrats! I  am 5 months out

Congrats! I  am 5 months out from larynx cancer and still having the sore throat and a lot of mucus expecially in the morning. I'm eating well but having a hard time putting weight (lost about 45 lbs.) and things are getting better day by day. What a long struggle, which I didn't expect. I've been cancer free for the 5 months. See my ENT every month for 1st year and hopely it will stay that way.
