    I'm on Arimidex

Hi mollyz!  I'm on Arimidex and have been for only a month now.  I can tell you that joint pain is a side effect of your Tamoxifen.  I, too, have a shoulder that's giving me fits and so are my ankles.  I take an Aleve once a day to help, but other than that, there's really not much else we can do.

    Tamoxifen

Well i finally know whats wrong with my shoulder, i have a rotator cuff tare, i don't know how that happened but i still blame tamoxifen for it cause i havent had any problems with my shoulder till i started tamoxifen  and now i have to have surgery but im not wanting to but the pain is unbearable now it wakes me up from sleep...has anyone one had any problems with joint surgery after starting tamoxifen?

    Rotator cuff tear? Hooray

Now, did you ever think you'd be happy about that?  I was on Arimidex and then Tamoxifen for 5 years.  I had no joint pain while on either - other than the I'm getting old pain and stiffness which was there before and is there after.  So I'm probably no help as I had no pain on either drug.  Now, get that rotator cuff fixed and see how it is.  I don't think the tamoxifen would interfere with surgery, but ask the surgeon and oncologist.

    Best,

    Suzanne

I think you can get a great

I think you can get a great deal of muscular pain from hormone treatment, or some of us do.  I had a rotator cuff operation just before I had breast cancer.  kind of doubt your medo could have caused that.  But I do feel if you have existing problems Tamoxifen can makes them feel worse, such as arthritis.  You very often have arthritic spurs which they deal with when they do the rotator cuff operation, now that could be being irritated.  It's very commonly found.  The more I think about it the more it makes sense.  I must mention (unless I am just a baby with pain) the shoulder operation was also very painful for some time afterwards BUT, I was very careful for nearly a year and it is absolutely like brand new.  Just like don't play tennis, kind of thing for as long as you can.  Some do heavy exercise too quickly and re tear it.  Good luck, at least know you know whats going on.
