2 months post radiation return of major pain

Good evening everyone,

My husband is 2 months post radiation.  After his pain went away at about 3 weeks after treatment, he was totally pain free for 4 weeks, didn't even have to take a tylenol or advil.

Last week, he started having major pain again, unlike treatment pain.  This is near the surgery area.  More muscular or jaw pain.   Anytime he tries to eat anything, even liquid nutrition, he is in terrible pain.  Actually, he's in pain most of the time but when he tries to eat it really hurts badly.  It seems to be getting worse each day.  He's almost back to total liquid diet again and not as much as he needs of that.  Today, he's had to take a couple of pain pills to get any food down.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?  He's really upset that he is again hurting so badly and not able to eat again.  He was Stage 4a in the upper mandibal, had bone and teethg removed during surgery.  He has a hole that he has to wear an obturator for.

Thanks!

    I suspect

this pain has something to do with the rads.  I'm thinking he probably needs exercises to keep the muscles stretched....I'd get an appointment with the radiologist, so they can point you in a direction.  One thing my RO had me doing was taking Trental with 400 iu's of Vit. E to help keep the muscles from hardening.  The quicker you get on this after treatment the better it works (so said the RO).  I took it for 3 months, and it did help.
