Body Temp Post Radiation

My husband is 2 weeks post treatment. He is cold all the time. It's 80+ degrees and he has on long sleeves, flannel pj bottoms, wool socks and under a blanket.  This has been going on for awhile but not to this degree. He does not have a temperature. Does anyone know what causes this?  He is down about 15 lbs. Could he be anemic?

    Full effects of treatments

    Georgiasurfer,

Your husband is currently in the Stage we call "Cooking" where all the treatments are added up and the full effects are felt after the final treatments. This stage can last anywhere from 4-8 weeks. He will actually feel worse now than when he was getting the treatments. I mention this not to scare you or your husband, but to let you know that he will eventually start to feel better in a few weeks.

I had the same thing happen to me and still do at times. I feel cold when it is warm out and need a sweat shirt when others are in short sleeve shirts. I do what makes me comfortable. If anything worries you or him, give your Doctors a call or the Nurse Practitioner. He still needs to try and get the needed calories and nutrition in also fluids. Each of us reacts to treatments and recovery differently. Hopefully, he recovers quickly.

    chilly

I thought I was gonna freeze!  I finished my 33 rad treatments at the end of last August.  Even when the weather was 80 degrees and sunny, I had a sock hat on most all of the time, day and night, and wore 2 pair of socks on my feet.  It took about 2 months for me to feel comfortable without looking like I was going on an arctic expedition.  This too shall pass, so hang in there.  Losing weight isn't helping with your body temp.  I had lost over 30 pounds and it took what seemed like forever to get a lot of it back.  I'm still experiencing below average RBC and H & H counts but I'm eating and swallowing sooooo much better than this time last year.

    Post 35 Rads

...and I stayed in bed covered in blankets. It was 95 plus degrees outside but Id wear a jacket almost everywhere. Sounds perfectly normal to me. God bless you both!

    Much love,

    Me too...

I stayed cold for a long time after treatment....sweaters in the dead of summer, many MANY layers in the winter.  Anemia could be part of it....as well as his thyroid (has it been checked??).  Plus, most of us are a lot skinnier after treatment...less fat between us and the temperature.  Being cold is very common after treatments are over.
