Change in tumour density

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

Does anyone know what it means if the tumour density has changed? On the CT scan report it says tumours grew significantly but the density is less suggestive of change in narcotic. Got the oncologist appointment in 2 days but keen to know what could this be. Thanks.

    Hi Diya,  

    If you look at the following article from NJCI (National Journal of the Cancer Institute)

    it appears that even if the cancers diameter increases that the density reducing may be the indicator that the treatment is positive.  I am not a doctor but read the article and see what you think.  BTW, I found it by just googling density of tumor.  There were a number of other articles also available.  I just know this will be a good sign for you.  Prayers are with you.

    Thankyou. Though i think its still not good news as the cancer has grown a lot. Now we will start chemo which onco has been hesitant to use until now as my mum is very weak. We were told 15% chance it will have any response. And the response may not be much. And it will not be curative. But side effects will be severe. Such a tough decision weather to go ahead or not. If we go ahead am i killing my mum faster? Or if we dont go ahead are we missing out on a chance for longer life?  think today i am realising prayers dont help. Karma is the biggest hoax. So many good people suffer for no reasons. Sorry for being so negative!

    Metformin?

    Has your doctor mentioned metformin as a possibility?  I have no personal experience with it, but there are a few women on this board who swear by it.  It might be worth bringing up.  You can search this board for previous posts about it.

    But I agree with MAbound...  how does your mom feel about all of this?

    Diya, you are not being negative.  You are just saying what you feel and that is ok.  

    I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy and too many good people are stricken with this terrible disease.

    Thankyou. Will look at metformin now. Mum wants to live. She is open to suggestions but not too strong chemo. Doesnt feel she has the strength. We saw the radiologist today. He said situation is quite bad. Lungs are covered in cancer. Thinking of trying low dose chemo. Can anyone tell me what to expect on carboplatin? Is it ok for a weak person to handle it?

    NoTimeForCancer, I totally agree with you that too many good people ae stricken with this terrible disease called cancer.  I was reading an article earlier today and I thought that this is one of the best expressions of how I feel about this disease.  The writer stated that when he hears of people stricken with cancer, he just wishes "that cancer would get cancer and just die".  It is a little simplistic but so true.
