Diarrhea-When does it start?

Nine years ago, I was in a clinical trial for sutent and had horrible diarrhea.  At times, I didn't want to leave home because

it would hit with little or no warning.  My cancer has now returned and I have been put on votrient.  So far, no diarrhea.  My question is:

At what point after starting votrient did you begin to have diarrhea?  Has anyone not had this problem?

    Couple days

It started for me right from the get go. Votrient shrunk my tumors fast. Watch out for high blood pressure and high protein.

    Different for everyone I think

I have been taking Votrient since Feb., 2015 so about 18 months. I have an inoperable tumor, but radiation and thevotrient have shrunk it significantly. It has remained stable for at least six months now. After the second month on Votirent I had about 3 weeks of bad diarrhea, then I was fine for awhile. it is cyclical for me. Comes and goes. If it is really bad I will stop taking the Votrient for a few days and it will ease up. Doctor is OK with this, but ask yours if this is a viable solution if this happens to you. I think everyone is different. Have read some posts where people cannot tolerate the Votrient at all and for me it is manageble. So you just have to take it for a while and see how you react. A few things to keep in mind: 1) try to take it at the same time every day, 2) Do not take Vortient sooner than one hour before eating or within 2 hours of eating. Food will magnify the effects of the drug. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

I knew not to take votrient sooner than 1 hour before or to wait 2 hours after eating, but I assumed it was an absorbtion issue.  No one told me it would magnify the effects.  Thanks for the heads up!
