Hip Pain

Morning everyone, I have just been diagnosed with uterine cancer. In march of this year I had a colon resection as a result of colon cancer. I will be getting tested for lynch syndrome. On Aug.9 I will be having a complete hysterectomy after which I will find out the stage of the cancer. My question or concern is the debilitating hip pain I have been experiencing for several months. Unfortunately I have a history of back problems and have had 3 back surgeries, so the doctor was linking this hip pain to my back. I have had a hip exray that showed nothing. I have had a pelvic ct scan but don't know the results of that yet. My fear is that the cancer has spread to my pelvic bone. Has anyone else experienced this agonizing hip pain with their uterine cancer? Thank you

    I'm sorry this is happening

I'm sorry this is happening to you.  Nobody deserves cancer but you have been hit with it twice!!!  I have had sciatic nerve problems on my right side for 30 years so I know the agony of back/hip pain.  Now, I have pain on my left side too.  I've had clean CT scans so I'm assuming my pain on the left in my back is also caused by the sciatic nerve.  I'm wishing you the best on your surgery and sending you all my positive thoughts and good vibrations!!  (((Deborah)))

    Love,

    Hip pain

i have had hip pain for the last 6 months or so.  My oncologist checked out everything with CT  scans and MRI and couldn't find and thing to connect to the cancer, so he sent me to an orthopedist.  They decided it was a problem with my SI joint and gave me a steroid injection in th joint.  It worked well for about 2 1/2 months and now hurts again. I can get another injection in about 6 weeks.

So sorry you are hurting. It is miserable.  Lou ANn

    Hip Pain

I'm two months short of being 6 years out from the end of my chemo after having stage IVb UPSC.  I did have some hip pain in the first couple of years out from chemo, along with some other problems (foot problems) for which I saw an orthopedic surgeon.  He x-rayed me, but told me it would be highly unlikely for my cancer to have metastasized to my hip, since uterine cancer rarely metastasizes to the bones.  I thought you'd appreciate hearing this.  Like the other people on here, I've had sciatica in the past, and still have it at times.  I've been seeing a chiropractor for over 30 years for that and several other back problems.  Lately, I've been bending backwards over an exercise ball, stretching my back out, and that's been helping tremendously. But also, I want to tell you that I remember a few years ago, someone made a comment on this site about how their hip pain was likely from the body trying to manufacture new (red?) blood cells to replace those that were damaged by chemo.  They said the hip was one of the main places where blood is manufactured in the bone marrow.  I don't know if that's true or not, but I recall several people commenting at the time that they had noticed pain in the same place, so there may be something to it.

Hi and thank thank you. Interestingly, before my cancer diagnosis I had an epidural for my chronic back pain and actually felt pretty good for a minute. Unfortunately the hip pain was not improved. This pain is constant 24/7 and sometimes wakes me from deep sleep. It is to the point now that I am dreaming of explaining this pain to different doctors. I have been through steroid injections as well. I don't know I feel that I may be destined to living this way the rest of my life, but I am grateful to be alive. Wishing you all the best...Deb

Hi Pinky, thank you for your reply, I appreciate your input. I have tried some basic yoga strectching for my back in the past. Honestly, I just haven't been feeling all that well currently to even do that. I think I may need a good swift kick in the rear to get motivated. I hope you are feeling well . thanks agin...Deb
