Looking for info

I want to first say that I have not been diagnosed with kidney kr any other type of cancer.  I had an ultrasound last week for my gallstones.  The images get posted to my radiology account so I can view them and I saw that I have a spot on my kidney that measurements were taken of.  Now I know this could be a cyst.  I would think if it was anything serious I would have been contacted already.

so I guess I'm asking if anyone who was found on an incidental scan was contacted right away, like should  be contacting them just in case?  And while I know no one here is able to diagnose me (I'm not looking for that) I like to deal in facts and trying to find if anyone knows if the difference between a cyst and tumor are obvious on ultrasound?

Thank you

    We are good!!

However we still defer to people with  white jackets.  Hopfully what is there is nothing.  To make sure see a doctor.  A proper doctor that specilizes in kidney stuff. We all wish you all the best.

    I was not contacted right

I was not contacted right away. I had an appointment a week after my CT scan that was ordered for a suspected UTI and that's when I got the bad news that my peeing blood was not a UTI but kidney cancer. However, when they post your scan results there should also be an accompanying explanation of their impressions. Did they post any interpretation of the scan?

    Welcome LG

The good news here, is that if it is anything, it's very small.  My kidney cancer was what they refer to as a "complex cyst".  Keep us posted on your outcome.

Most likely they will follow up with a CT scan, if so make sure it's with & without contrast.  I say that because mine was initially ordered without contrast and I had to go back and have it redone.  You'll definitely want to be seen by a urologist as well.

I'll keep you in my prayers,

    Donna~

    Thanks for your replies.  I

Thanks for your replies.  I feel a little silly asking for input when it could be nothing but I'm like that lol.  So my report just become available now (early) and says "left renal cyst" but doesn't state simple or complex not sure if that means it's simple unless otherwise stated but it also says they recommend a CT with and without contrast but doesn't say if that is for gallbladder, the cyst or both but at least there is planned follow up there.

Thank you for your input and

Thank you for your input and experience.  I was reading about the different kind of cysts.  Wondering if the differences in edge color and gray inside rather then solid black might mean it's complex but I'm not an expert (obviously) and could be completely wrong lol.

    Lg,

Renal is Kidney not gallbladder. The CT will narrow down whether it appears malinant. The good news is that if it is malignant it was caught before it grew or misbehave  and you are looking at a full and complete recovery. For now lets hope it is nothing, but you will be fine in either event.

    Start calling

More than likely a radiologist has looked the this U/S and sent a report over to your provider's office. I'd start calling first thing Monday AM. The sqeak wheel gets the grease. In other words bug them.

Looks like a simple cyst, but I am only an RN and not very good at looking at these types of images.  i think you need a ct scan.  Whatever this is, it's small and that is very good news for you.

    good luck

    Was told in the ER

At the ER, I was given a CT for abdominal pain -- rule out diviticulitus or something.  The ER doctor told me no identifieble cause for the pain, but a 6 cm mass on my kidney which had to be looked at.  Followed up with PCP the same day, and urologist a few days later.

Mine was bad, but my mom's was not!

My RCC cyst was that size and was removed successfully but my mom had one that looked much like yours and it was simply a simple cyst needing no intervention. The CT scan with contrast will tell you either it is simple or if it might be more. Good luck!

    Thank you everyone.  Tomorrow

Thank you everyone.  Tomorrow is Monday so will talk to them about it in the morning.  I also forgot to include that I had an ultrasound 3 years ago and had cyst in my kidney at that time.  Does it matter that this is new or do they just pop up sometimes?
