My surgery date was 5/11/2016. Still having pain and itching/ burning around and under incisions. Kidney was worse than hysterectomy! This was my first surgery ever, at 53. I feel like I should be able to get around better than I do,but I get tired and start hurting even if I'm up moving around for just a little while. Doctor said I should be back to normal in about six weeks, but I have my doubts. I feel like a wimp, and am ready to feel better.

    Dont rush it

You've just had major, major surgery.  Make sure you do the breathing excersizes but take it slow. Your body will tell you how much you can do. Dont bash yourself for being a wimp, the Doctors have done that for you. You will feel a little better day by day.

Did the doctor who said 6 weeks ever get nephed himself etc?

    Mrs. SC.

I think not. All of us here have at least been nephed? Think how bad you felt 2 weeks ago. Think how much better you feel now. It is going to take time. I was nephed at age 59 and it took me 11 months before I could go water skiing. It may take you a few months longer. Do not do more than your body says you can do. One baby step at a time.

It's not even three weeks and

It's not even three weeks and you had double major surgery. It's perfectly normal to feel the way you do. It'll be a while before you're back to normal but each day it'll get a little better. They completely rearranged your insides; no wonder you're feeling the way you do. It'll get better, hang in there!

    My goodness Mrs SC

That's a double whammy!  I had a hyst 11 years before my partial neph.  I felt more weak after the partial neph, by far, but then I was 59 too.

Take your time with your recovery, your body has been through a lot.  Listen to your body, not your brain in this instance.  If you overdo things, believe me you'll pay the price and a set-back isn't something you'll be too happy about.  Two weeks after my partial neph I over-did it and ended up in the ER that night due to intense pain.

Do your breathing exercises and follow doctors orders.  Soon enough this will all be behind you, like a nasty little nightmare.
