It's been awhile feeling sad

Hi everyone its been awhile thought I would check in. My mom have colon cancer mets to liver since 10/2013

She had chemo twice folfox oxi avastin folfieri irintocan erbitux. The first one worked stopped progression and she was NED for a very short time like 3 months

The second chemo did nothing to stop progression, so her dr tried the first combo again. It worked she got through 8 treatments and then on the eighth one 30 min before the end she had a reaction. Her blood pressure shot up 220/160 and she started to shake. We went to hospital no cardiac issues they sent us home. Dr said it was a reaction to the oxi. So we stopped her chemo. Its been 4 months my mom is looking musch weaker to me. Through all of this she has managed to keep working full time, take care of her home and her most favorite thing her garden. They want to start lonsurf sorry of im spelling things wrong. She doesn't want it because she had a horrible reaction to stigvarga. Broke out into a full body hives otching and swelling. I just am sad to see her become weaker and weaker. It looks like the cancer is winning. Its so hard and it makes me so angry that my mom has to deal with it

Sorry for rambling on so many emotions are running through me anger, fear, denial, grief. To all of the wonderful people who are fighting this I applaud you all. You are all so brave keep fighting as long as you can. And when you are tired its ok

    Keep hope alive

Thanks for your kind words. You are right I need to be her rock I am usually just feeling sad. As I said she is phenomenal in het battle with this crappy unfair disease. She has worked full time through all her treatments and she still works. I would yell at her causeI would catch her shoveling snow!  So keep up a positive attitude. I know its very hard sometimes. It's okay. Sending you good vibes

I'm sorry you are both going

I'm sorry you are both going through this. I've said before that I think it might be harder on the caregivers than the people with cancer. Your mom may still win the battle. It's sometimes amazing how bad a person can get and then they rally back again. I hope you both will find your strength and get through this. Hugs.

I am so sorry for you and

I am so sorry for you and your mother.  Sure wish there were other treatments that she could do.  That is good that she can get around and work ect.  It probably keeps her mind off of what is going on with her cancer.  I am sure it is hard for you to see her getting weaker tho.

I have been fighting for over

I have been fighting for over 10 years. So you can imagine of done most everything except Stivarga. Mainly because of what I heard about the side effects and drug is ineffective for most who try it. I have been doing Lonsurf for 3 weeks now and so far it is by FAR the easiest drug I have done.

I'm so sorry to hear about

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, i'm in a very similar situation with my mom and I just keep reminding myself to inhale and exhale each day and to stay strong for her. When our moms see how we're taking care of everything and staying strong, that helps give them their strength. When times are good, I sit by her and enjoy the moment and day we're having and I appreciate the time we have together.. There are the bad days too and I always remind myself that it will not always be like this and we will need to keep fighting. Wish you and your mom the best.

    Robert will be taking

Lonsurf, IF he qualifies for patient assistance thru the manufacturer.  His copay is 2800 for the first month Surprised.  Glad to hear the side effects aren't too bad for you!
