18 months

i finished 40 rounds of rad wig 28, 14.  March of last year, my body fell apart.  I'm now 42, even through treatment I kept up my fitness competitions but since many neuro problems starting in legs, then nov 15, sudden vision loss.  over Labor Day I was hospitalized with congestive heart failure and was told I had lung cancer, 4 days later my onc did a pet and said no cancer.  The radiation wiped out my thyroid and kidneys.  I have no teeth, little saliva.  I got a cold 2 months ago that won't go away and the constant coughing isn't helping my fears for my next pet in 2 weeks.  I am just not feeling optimistic.  I wish I could but most days for months I've had to lay in bed most the day though I'm in too much pain to sleep.  I pray and pray.  Thank you for reading.

    I think for people

who have been through cancer treatment it took a long time to recover from common disease such as cold. My boyfriend had cold after thanksgiving last year and had been coughing for over a month without any signs of improvement. Had nose bleeding a couple of times. Finally he agreed to take antibiotics and got slightly better, still coughed quite often. I was so nervous and had bad thoughts all the time. But the PET scan in mid Jan this year was good. Around the end of January the cough finally went away.

    Stay positive!

    stay strong

My heart goes out to you. I can feel you're hurt. It is a tough thing to deal with but your attitude is very important to help fight this. You have to keep a healthy diet and take a walk if you can to keep your body strong. I would ask your doctor for some citalopram ( commonly known as Celexa) to help with the depression. That's what they gave me and it did help a lot. We are all here for support for one another. Your part of the family now. Don't be afraid to ask questions and post your thoughts and feelings.

    My prayers are with you,

    Gary

    Hi Reilly

I can under what you are going through, that is just about normal for all of us at the first. As time goes on you will learn not to worry about it so much. Can you give any more details about your treatment; I am wondering why it is affecting your Thyroid, eye sight and Kidneys.

    I can relate...

...very much to going through it alone. I went through everything from diagnosis, treatment, and post tx by myself with no help from anyone. Did every single thing on my own. Getting through the long term side-effects is something we all go through to varying degrees. Venting here helps...stay strong.

I'm so sorry - you have been

I'm so sorry - you have been through so much, but just know you are never alone. The survivors on this board are wonderful and are always open to listen and lend a "helping hand." It's really hard not to worry about upcoming scans. It seems like your life revolves around those appointments, but try not to let it control your life. That's the goal, but I know it's easier said than done. I read one good thing in your post.... After your last PET you were told you don't have cancer, so hold on to that!

I hope your doctors can help you with pain management. Also, maybe consider an antidepressant?

    We're here for you!
