My friend just told me her 1 spot on the lungs is now 3. I'm looking for helpful info, posts

My friend at work had 1 teeny tiny lung spot, now she has 3. The doctor is not opting to do chemo, says there is no point and you just watch these spots.  Anyone go through this same experience who can share their opinion/experience?

    Mine are getting radiated I

    Mine are getting radiated I can't do chemo again. I have the option of just watching them but that's only because they haven't grown in the five months since they first found them. Then if they start to grow they'd radiate them. I'm gping to just get them radiated and be done with it.

    Watching and waiting would be excruciating to me, I'd be on to TCM or some kind of alternative treatment, just to feel like I was doing something to fight back. Luck to your friend, Helen, And you Jan, blast that stuff out of there.......................................Dave

    Hi Helen

    Is your friend dealing with lung mets from crc or is it lung cancer or mets from another source?

    The reason I ask is that it will make a difference in how it might be treated.  In my sister's case the mets from uterine cancer were so small and numerous chemo was the only option.

    A second opinion is always good to get, particularly if one is not real sure they like the option presented by current doc.

    Bottom line is that if confirmed cancer, regardless of kind, it will not get better without some sort of treatment, and timing is everything.

    She has colon with mets to

    She has colon with mets to the lung.  Had chemo for colon, had ablation for lung.  Now the doc wants to just keep watching the new spots.  I suggested a second opinion also.  I think it makes you feel better to hear the same thing twice.

    Thanks Dave.  I'm 3 years NED and working hard to stay that way.  She's got young kids so it's extra hard.

    Spots

    I've been growing small spots on my lung(s) for a very long time. I was on Erbitux and Irinotecan and they grew slowly, then I'd get an RFA (ablation). In April 2013 I had to have targeted radiation because one spot was close to an artery. It was my only viable option at the time so I did it knowing the risks. It wound up messing up my right lung pretty good. I tried one more ablation after that and it didn't go as easy as all of the others did. Since then I've been on Xeloda and Avastin and it's keeping the two tumors I currently have under control. 

    I didn't read in this original post that they knew if the spots were cancer or just spots. I wouldn't be in a hurry to have them removed and would opt to do a wait and see approach. If the don't know exactly what they are, then I can totally see why they want to wait and find out if it is indeed cancer.

    Waiting and uncertainty stinks but it comes with the cancer...
