Hi everyone I am Denise. I was diagnosed and treated for Stage 4 breast cacner in 2006 and have been in remission every since.  lately, i have been experiencing intermittent painin my left thigh.  when it comes it is painful (10) but it does not last long.  sometimes it is 4 times a day other times it can be 20.  I have mentioned this to my oncologist but he does not seem to worry about it.  I had some elnarged lymph nodes in my neck which resulted in a CT scan and MRI of my neck abdomen and pelvis.  No problems YIPEE!! BUT that did not address my thigh pain.  TO beat that, my alkaline phosphatase which is a bone and liver indicator is over 240.  I am so tired of the pain but i am also so nervous that it could be mets.  i am 51 years old and i want to get more information.  Has anyone experience any of this that i am going through.  I am soooo scared right now.  I say that i am going to the hospital but when that times come, the pain is not there so it doesnt cross my mind.  Sometimes in the middle of the night it will wake me up and there i am in pain.  I whine to my husband then maybe go to sleep or stay up until morning.  Please help me.

    Are you on a bisphosphonate?

This may mean absolutely nothing, but one of my good friends has mets to bones.  Her thigh started hurting really really bad. She was very concerned needless to say.   Finally got someone to image the thigh.  Turns out it was broken, but not from the bone mets (the bone was biopsied).  She had been on a bisphonate to prevent osteoporosis for many years.  This is a known rare side effect, but apparently it does happen.  No matter what, if the pain continues, keep complaining.  My friend had to have surgery to have a rod placed in her femur.  She is doing much much better, but it was quite an ordeal for her in getting someone to listen!

    Thigh pain

My wife had a similar situation. She was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2010 and cleared after treatment in late 2011. In 2012 she started having pain in her right thigh and groin area. It was intermittent and only seemed to bother her when we were on the motorcycle or when walking. She went through a lot of pain. It took several months before it was diagnosed as bone mets to her femur, and was discovered only after a physical therapist recommended that we have the doctor order an MRI of the fumur. Perhaps a full body bone scan or MRI of the specific area will tell them a little more. Good luck.
