How much chemo is too much?

Hello,

 

I was diagnosed with stage two Invasive Ductual Carcinoma, one lymph node had cancer. I did a lumpectomy and finish 5 rounds of chemo. Three rounds of FEC and two rounds of Doectaxael. I had had a headache and dizziness for nine days now. My oncologist said to keep drinking lots of water. I am drinking over 2 liters per day. I am worried that the chemo is going to affect my cognitive ability and memory. I am considering not taking my last round. ANY FEEDBACK will be helpful to me. Thanks

    ask about decreasing dose

    Talk with your oncologist about your concerns. Mine decreased the dosage by 20% for my last session, said it would not have a major effect on my reoccurence rate, but it certainly helped with the severity of my side effects.

    Puffin gave you great advice. The doctors will have run blood checks and can adjust your dose if necessary. Just know that chemo gets worse after every session, but then POOF! suddenly you are done and start feeling better. You are almost finished and are on the way to relief. You should be proud of all the progress you have made. Hugs, Anna

    Headaches

    I did experience headaches, but added fluids did help.  Also, I found my eyesight was affected, especially at night - also timing of headaches.  Never having worn glasses, I started using my daughter's very first Rx.  At least I could get through my favorite shows with my eyes open!

    Try to close your eyes throughout the day, maybe you can get some relief, too.
